I’ve found references to people using 4198 in their 375’s with success, but I’m having trouble finding load data for it. If anyone knows of any, I’d sure appreciate it. I’ll be loading a 300gr. Montana LFNGC. I’ve tried it with IMR4064 and had less than impressive accuracy. I have data for IMR3031, which I may try as well, but I have more 4198 on hand and I’d like to utilize it if possible.

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 4th Edition lists:

Lyman #375449, 264grs

Starting load IMR 4198: 24 grs 1387fps Max: 35 grs 1813fps. (Accuracy load for that bullet)

Lyman #378674, 335 grs

Starting IMR4198: 25 grs 1314fps Max: 36 grs 1717

24" test barrel

Depending on the velocity you are trying to achieve, you are probably better off with IMR3031, all else being equal.... but IMR4198 should work well enough.

When I started loading cast for .348WCF, I used the same powder I used for jacketed... H4831... and got horrible results. I'm not surprised IMR4064 didn't give you the results you wanted.
