380 for my girlfriend to carry?

Do you realize that.380 in a small package is known to be rather snappy, a full size or compact 9 is just as good.

Only blowback pistols are snappy. The locked breech designs like the Sig are very mild shooters.

This forum must not be thinking straight.. 1st respose should be...

"Let's see pictures of your girlfriend in a bikini, so we can tell her general proportions for deciding on frame size and CCW" ;)

just kidding.

No greg, that would just get you banned
please remember where you are posting

Snappy isn't as bad, but consider the LCP/P3AT that is a locked design, but known to kick due to the very light weight.

I forgot the LOL, J/K... I didn't really want / expect him to post a picture. It just came to mind after the "describe your body size for carry purposes, and the number of guys who posted pictures of themselves.

I'd take her to a range that rents guns and let her try as many as possible to see what fits HER hands and what SHE likes- even if it's pink..........

The Bersa is practically tailor made for people with small, weak hands. That includes lots of women, married and single. :)

It's not as small as some of the others, but the trigger reach is surprisingly short. All operations are "soft" except maybe the decocker/safety.

Find a local range with a good selection in the rental counter so she can try different make/models out for fit, accuracy and comfort.

Neither you nor we can pick a gun for her since what we "like" may not fit her properly. Proper fit for a handgun is essential so the shooter can be both accurate and comfortable shooting it. Without proper fit a new shooter is likely to be recoil sensitive and uncomfortable and less accurate.

I have women friends choose much larger calibers than many men would recommend for a "little lady" simply because proper fit allowed for greater comfort and accuracy. One chose a ParaOrd P13 .45 over a 9mm Glock because the Para fit perfectly. Others have chosen CZs over 1911s and Glocks, Glocks over CZs and 1911s all because of fit to the individual.

Hey, check with her and see if she's sure 'pretty' precludes plastic. Have you put a Kahr pm9 in her hand yet? Maybe not pretty but it's awful cute.

Oh, and this .38 is really pretty until you have to shoot the thing. Ouch!

Take her to a range that rents guns and let her try a fistful of handguns that strike her eye. Invite your friends along who own guns in the category she is interested in and supply the ammo -- then let her try on those as well. Eventually she'll find something that best fits her hand and eye, and the decision will be hers, not yours. Speaking from experience, making the decision for her is a bad idea, all else being equal.

Given your criteria, I'd be sure to let her try both the SIG and the Walther.

pix4182280875.jpg If she wants pretty, look at a Browning BDA. IMO the best looking .380 made. You can't get 'em NIB for 600 but very nice ones used go around 400-600. Very shootable and concealable. My Daughter in law loved mine but loved the Browning Hi Power more.
