400 Legend

For those that reload for 40S&W and 10mm, could be attractive.

I could see being intrigued enough to play around with it given it flatters my components for 10mm, but due to the fact that I'm invested in 450BM and one gets the results below, it's not much interest.
450 Bushmaster 250gr 2,200fps, or 425gr expanding subs at 1,050fps.

Well here we are again I have a high cap 9mm and a 7+1 45 and they're introducing a 40 lol

Just checking, you do know this is a 40 cal version of the 350 Legend right? Don't think they are going to be chambering handguns in this caliber unless you are talking wheel guns, and that's even not a likelihood.

I think he's making a joke comparison to the high capacity 9mm (350 Legend), the 7+1 45 (450 Bushmaster) and now a new 40.

I thought it was hilarious.

The concept has been around for a while as the wildcat .400 AR but do we know who sponsored this to SAAMI? I assume by the name that it was Winchester/Olin but does anyone know? Much like my beloved 40S&W I think this is going to get hate from both sides. 450 Bushmaster has that its 45 Caliber and yes it has low capacity but brings a lot of raw energy and momentum and can use standard 20rd magazine in most cases. 350 Legend does not have near the power of 450 BM but uses a standard bolt and you don't sacrifice much if any capacity (compared to 556 magazines of the same length) but uses proprietary magazines. 400 Legend is going to require a non-standard bolt and special magazines I suspect. It is very much a middle ground between 350 Legend and 450 Bushmaster. As a 40 caliber fan and an AR fan I am intrigue but I am not sure if I am intrigued enough to buy one given I already own a 450 Bushmaster.

Wonder what velocities Lehigh Defenses 115gr xTreme Defense rounds would achieve.

What would this caliber do that all the other caliber's don't already do??

Get a bunch of nutbars that always need the latest and greatest motivated to be the first kid on their block with one.
Here in Michigan, the southern zone these straight walls are legal, and effective. The 450 Buash Bush was a huge hit when I came out in the Ruger American. You can thank Randy up in Bad Axe for alot of this straight wall madness going on today. It opened up these cartridges to the average Joe that couldn't afford the $1500 AR platform this caliber originally was designed for.
The 350 is popular here due to its reduced recoil.
Honestly, I don't see this or the Bucksmasher or goony goo goo whatever the heck they call it catching on too big. Henry lever gun, again, there's a market, but how big
