9.5 gr of 2400 behind a 315 cast wheel weight bullet in a uberti cattleman, is this do able? What about 6.5 gr of blue dot with same bullet,in same gun?
Thanks in advance

I suspect it isw doable but why? You can run the 250gr KSWC with 13gr of 2400 up to 965 or so which shud be good enuf for whatever you would want. And, remember this is a Uberti.

Jubal, looking to simplify. Trying to use the same bullet for 444 marlin, super blackhawk, and this 44 special. I did not think the above loads were high, just looking to get about 750-800 fps with the 315 grain bullet out of the 44 special.

Down loading 2400 doesn't usually work too well.

It has to run high pressure to burn clean.

I suspect your 9.5 grain load would not burn too good.

I also don't know what kind of accuracy you would get with a 315 grain bullet at about 600 FPS out of a .44 Spl.

I can't think of a single good reason to go down this path. I'd suggest getting a good Keith bullet mold. It'll save you on lead (per shot) and your loads will actually be good for something. Use `em in your Super Blackhawk too!

Smart move not going with a 300 gr bullet in the Spl. I own a few .44's as well as the mags. Never found a reason to shoot the 300 gr bullets out of any of them.

My main load is 7.5 gr Unique with the 250 gr LSWC for about 950 fps. If I want hot I use the same bullet and 15.0 gr of 2400 for about 1100 fps. The last load is starting to get your attention but is still not in the mag area.
