44 Special Single Action

Do any of the gunmakers make a single action chambered for the 44 special?
I know I can shoot 44 spl out of a 44mag, but I'd like a dedicated 44 spl gun.

Yes, most of the Model P clones can be had in 44 Special.

Check out Cimmaron, Taylors and others (sorry can't remember the rest) for revovlers that are in that chambering.

I see genuine Colts for sale from time to time. Pricey but they are the real thing. Several of the Italian makers offer the clones in 44 Special.

This one dates from 1978. I bought it in the mid 1980s.

I have 2 Cimarrons Model Ps. Very nice shooters, even with rather stiff loads.

Along with 44-40, 44 special is my round of choice. I just sold my last Uberti 44 special and it was a great little shooter.

I have been thinking about another Colt SAA in 44 special. Have one and kinda wishing for another.

However, you can buy a USFA 44 special. Either the Gunslinger model or the Pre-war model. Starting about $800.

I may check into the cimarron this weekend at a gun show I plan to attend. A colt would be really nice though.

.44 Special Single Action

This is my custom built Colt Bisley in 44 Special. It sort of grew from what it was originally intended. After I bit the bullet on the pre-ban elephant ivory it sort of took a life of its own. Its a parts gun - but was built by one of the best. David Chicoine of Old West Gunsmith. Jerry Meecham was the grip maker.
Great custom gun with classic style.

PRM, that's one very pretty six shooter. I found plenty of colts, rugers and cimarrons at the gun show I attended today, but none were chambered in 44 spl.

I may have to buy a 44 mag, but I'd really like to hold out for what I really want.

There are 3 Colts in 44 Special on Gun Broker right now for $1400 and up. The one for $1400 is NIB, 4 3/4 inch, Nickel, with a buy it now price of $1550.

Colts web site currently does not show a 44 Special - you would most likely have to go through the Custom Shop to get one there.
