Are there any rifle makers out there that have one in production? I understand Marlin used to, but it has been a decade or more since they were in production.
I have a practically new (<100 rounds, pristine condition) HK USC that I'm looking to part ways with, if you happen to have an HK P7M8 you would like to trade. The carbine is great, soft shooting and dead accurate. I just never got around to shooting it enough to warrant keeping it.
The old Marlin camp carbines you mentioned were sweet if you can find them. They took 1911 magazines, which was a neat feature.
You can convert an existing .45 (glock/1911) pistol to a carbine with a Mechtech full top end conversion, or in the case of the 1911 (and I think Glock), an add on stock, and 16" bbl for use with your existing slide.
As far as a new gun is concerned, There are things I would, and would not bother to buy. The price of the weapon weighed against it's usefulness
doesn't make sense for the HK USC ($1500), or an AR platform ($7-900). Unless I had an AR15 Lower already, I wouldn't bother with a pistol caliber AR.
Unless I'm feeling nostalgic, the Thompson doesn't catch my attention.
I would recommend you look into the Beretta CX4 (best overall situation)
as it is a quality firearm with good modern features.
A marlin Camp Carbine used would also be worth looking into.
All you PRK THR members need to get serious about your 2A RTKBA and move to some red states! If all the 2A enthusiasts moved out of California they might not have so many electoral votes and maybe we would stand a good chance at protecting our rights when it comes to the Presidential elections.
The Storm isn't legal in the PRK either. Why doesn't the Hi-Point come in .45?
FWIW, there are plenty of 2A supporters and believers here, but CA has also absorbed many of the anti-2As from all around the rest of the country.
In short, we're outnumbered!
It will, eventually. Hipoint has designated it as the 4595 and has shown pix of a prototype. Looks a little like the ATI stock and the old style stock. It will have the 9 round mags of the HP 45 pistol. They say that they will release it after they catch up with back orders for the 995 and 4095. My guess is they don't want to hurt 9 and 40 sales by bringing the 45 out too early. They've been waffling on the release date for many months now. There is a Hipoint forum with more info. Google for the link.
