.45 ACP Range Day

Nice!

I had the Witness .45 at one time in satin-nickel. An awesome and very underrated gun, IMO.

Would still have it if it hadn't been stolen- it was in a small, but very stout safe bolted to my bedside bookshelf. They took the whole bookshelf! I hope the SOBs cut their hands and got tetanus trying to hacksaw it open....:fire:

With a '67 Colt, P220, and M645 I think my .45 needs are pretty well met at the moment. Still, if a cosmetically challenged CZ or another Witness came my way for a good price, I would have to think hard about it.:)

that gun is why i always peek at the 45 acp section everytime I'm in my lgs. i have never seen one in the flesh and dont know if the grip will fit me. otherwise i would have ordered one online.

I was lucky in that a THR member who lived here let me shoot his at the local range. He wanted to see the range, and I wanted to try a CZ 97, so it worked out for both of us. I shot it well and was hooked immediately.

Walkalong

A most excellent .45 range day (and we'll throw in similar regards for your P265)!

This is my go-to gun on my .45 range day (the compact size of a Combat Commander with the accuracy of a Gold Cup), and I added a new Colt Government Model to the mix 7 years ago (the added bonus there was that it had "100 Years of Service" rollmarked on the slide)!

For CCW practice I will take along my Colt Lightweight Government and my Colt Officer's Model ACP. The Officer's Model is always a "blast" to shoot!

Those are the same grips I have—very comfortable!
Thanks for posting your cz97b upgrades—I’m tempted!

I second the updated feed ramp post 2013. Mine also eats anything: RN, LSWC, JHP, etc...
The Race Hammer Kit eliminates (about 90% of) the camming back of the hammer in S/A mode, and lightens S/A trigger pull even more beyond what you get with the Ultra Lite Kit.

The 5SAO and 6SAO (slightly different shapes) triggers make the gun S/A only, and has adjustable pre-travel and over-travel. The result is that the trigger operates fore and aft within a much narrower range of movement. In my 85 Combat I also have the CZ Pre-B short trigger reset (a factory piece from the 75 non-B) that drops into the 85 Combat (because the Combat is like the 75 non-B and doesn't have a firing pin block). A version of this short reset part is also available for the 75 B (CGW SRS-1)and 97 B (CGW SRS-97). The SRS is claimed to reduce reset movement by 50%, so it's enough to be noticeable. With this setup (Race Hammer Kit and SRS) the range of movement for my 85 Combat trigger is within the thickness of the trigger. You can see the thickness of the trigger in the photo of my 85 Combat below, and that it would be a dramatic travel reduction vs. the factory trigger. The gun is very different with all these mods -- light trigger, minimal trigger movement (like a 1911) no noticeable camming back of the hammer, and short reset. I wouldn't set up a carry gun this way, but for plinking and target shooting, it is fantastic, IMO (I have some other CZs with fewer or no mods to compare to).

Take a look at Guns International 101094259. They show Italian version of CZ 97 in very good shape for $295. Don't know the outfit but if I lived nearby in Arkansas I would take a chance. Hey $300 is little money for something like that. Hablamos engles 24/7. How can one go wrong???

The little one has two small Midway boxes of 9MM ammo, a pair of earmuffs, a P-365, and an extra mag. Perfect for that.

The CZs are all cool.

I've got to get my groove on with my 686 tomorrow, but I think I'll warm up first with a little Colt Mk IV Mod70.

I have what looks like the same one I use for similar purposes, though on long drives my carry gun and a few mags go in it, as well as a small lockbox for when I stay over night at my folks' place (lots of grandkids).
