.45 Auto One Shot One Kill

When I was in my early twenties, a buddy of mine invited to his house to kill frogs. They had a couple of shrimp ponds, and the frogs would eat them. We both brought 22's, but I also brought my 9mm because I hadn't had the opportunity to shoot it for sometime.

Without getting too gory, a 9mm has 100% stopping power........depending on the size of your target! The frog was no more. The funny part was my buddies Dad was at the house, and later asked us what happened. He said he heard "bloot, bloot, bloot, BOOM!" LOL.

Why would anyone shoot stray cats? Are they a threat to your prize-winning mice, rats, and sparrows? Afraid they'll spread rabies to your racoons and possums? How would you even know they're strays, other than a collar, which might have fallen off? I have cats. One of them BEGS to go outside, so I let him. God knows where he goes, but so far he always come home within a day or two. Even stray cats can survive in the wild without generally bothering people... not like stray dogs which will have to dig up trash or kill farm animals to survive.

Sure, shot pacemant is number one. However, a 45 to the belly should be better than a 9mn or a 22lr. Of course, a heart or brain shot would be even better.

you shot a skunk in the butt? nice!

okay, you are supposed to hit it in the head.
i remember i shot a coyote with a 7mm mag one time.
needless to say the head and tail was about 10 feet apart

Sorry to be a spoilsport,.....

but just WHY did you shoot the Skunk in the first place?
Did you skin it? Clean it and put it in the freezer?
Hell, I hunt. Deer, Turkey, Ducks, Dove, Quail, Squirrel. But Skunk?

Just asking.

Well..........

My dad taught me that if skunks are out in daytime, chances are they are rabid and - therefore - need to be "dispatched with extreme prejudice."

That does kind of put a different light on it.

Summertime.....Skunks walking around in the daytime......it might just be better to be safe than sorry.

Holy C**P, after following this topic all the way through to the tortuous end, I see the light. Lord... please forgive me for all the senseless animal slaughter I've done in my life. There, I feel better already.

Now I have to struggle philosophically on how to catch and dispatch all the moles, gophers and weed rats in my pasture with out vaporizing them with a 52 grain Varmint grenade.
