Just got done processing a big bodied, basket rack 8 point that was taken in Eastern Ky. This was the first deer I’ve managed to take with the 450 bushmaster, however it will not be the last.

young buck followed my scent drag about 20 minutes after getting to my tree. He was head on the ground and paying no mind to anything but tinks 69 at the time. Shot was taken at approximately 30 yards. Bullet passed through, smashing bone and lung. I did not take a pic of the exit hole as my hands got bloody from rolling him over and I wasn’t about to reach in my pocket after that. The opposite side had a hole somewhere between a baseball and a softball. There were literally lungs hanging out of the exterior of the deer in the exit wound. Deer attempted to run but made it only about 10 feet, his front parts weren’t working correctly and he was bulldozing with his hind legs the only ones getting the message to run. The exit wound is slightly higher and about the same location front to back. He followed the small ridge I walked to my tree and was above me slightly in elevation.

Hornady 250g ftx bullet loaded over a healthy charge of lil gun. 18” barrel AR rifle.

my impression, very effective in regards to the round, the load, and the bullet chosen.

here is a pic, you can see the pretty massive entry wound, take note of the crazy amount of blood on the front legs from the offside exit wound.
