45acp glock or springfield compact

Owned both. Both are good. May I also suggest the S&W M&P45. very nice pistol. Very easy to shoot.

Shot the Glock 30 today. I'ts not the slim grip of the Glock 36 so its not a fair comparison but I didn't find it a good fit for me. I was asking about the price of a G36 at one of my gun sellers today and he put a .40 Walther PPS in my hands. Wow now I am totally confused. I wanted a 45 but that Walther sure felt sweet. I think its the slimmest gun I've ever handled.

f you are looking to carry then I would recommend the Glock-36. I carried one for several years before opting to a Kahr PM-9. I have an aversion to handguns for concelaed carry which have external hammers or safeties - fewer items to snag on clothing.

I chose the Glock 36...its accurate, reliable, easy to carry, and tough as nails.

Yep, me too:

This is one heck of a fantastic carry .45. I love it.

Hickok45 also did a very nice video comparing the XDm compact and the Glock 30. It was one of the things I took into consideration when trying to make this same decision. In the end I went and rented a glock 30, the full size XDm .45 (range didnt offer the compact), and I also have a friend who owns a glock 36. Both the Glock and the SA are both great shooting guns which made my decision all the more difficult. They both seemed to have very good stock triggers and very manageable recoil. For me personally I agree with what others have said in that I don't care much for the Glock grip angle. The XDm seemed to point more naturally for me as I'm accustomed to shooting 1911s. I'm also about to order a crossbreed supertuck for it. Find what works for you and go from there.

OK, here's my vote for the G36. I CC mine more than any other pistol, it conceals well, 6+1 ain't too bad and shoots great. I do CC my Combat Comm. at times, too. Just for principle.

I'd opt for the G30. It's soft shooting and very accurate. It has less felt recoil than its bigger brother the G21.

Can I shoot a 1" group at 25 feet with a g30? No. Then again, I only shot it one day because I was borrowing it from a friend. But I can hit an 8" plate all day long at that distance. That's plenty accurate for me.

It carries great, too, in Crossbreed holster.

Please, it's a Block. It carries like a Block. The only good news is it's got most of the edges rounded off.

That said, I'm hard pressed to think of a gun that carries 10 rounds of .45 ACP, and weighs what a Block does: 34 Oz.
That's not light.

Sorry, your after a 36, 28 oz, and what, 6 rounds.

I'd start looking at the Kahr line of .45 ACPS, in particular the CW 45 if you live in a free state.

Solman,

The g36 feels a lot wider in the hand; the double stack g30sf feels thicker. But, if you have handled the g19, then I don’t think it will be a problem for you. The g30 has two recoil springs making it very easy to do follow-up shots. I like to fully grip a gun out of the holster. I found the 9 round magazine to leave my pinky dangling, the 10 round magazine fit my hand perfectly, and the 13 round magazine felt great too but would take a little more creativity to conceal.

Is the g30 a Block like Posser says? Well, if you are used to sub-compact guns or mouse guns, you could call it blocky. It is definitely not a gun you forget about. You are constantly reminded it is on your side, but it is not uncomfortable by any stretch of the imagination. As a matter of fact, the heft of the g30 is a very comforting reminder of having enough gun.

The Pros of the g30:
Reliability.
Soft Recoil.
A power house in a very acceptable size.
Magazine selection (9, 10, 13).
Decent summer carry provided you don’t wear skinny jeans.
Excellent winter carry even with a 13 round magazine.
Accurate out of the box.

The Cons:
A bit on the heavy side, but ounce for ounce it is still lighter than other guns that offer the same capacity.
Not a gun to slip in your shorts for that late night trip to the store.
No pocket carry .
Requires a good holster/belt combo.
If you are in and out of gun free zones you may consider a holster more easily removed from your person.

I’ve shot the g23, g27, g26, g19 and g21. I found the g30 softer and more accurate than all of them.

I’m glad you took it for a spin. That’s the best way to decide.

I am considering a 29. That's why I call it a Block. Compared to all my other CCW guns, it's a Block.;-)
That said, I'm wondering if it's safe to have a Glock 29 with the 34-35 trigger?

I hate most Blocks, but, the 34-5 I shot was a race gun, tack accurate, with if not a fantastic, 1911 trigger, one that was the best ever for a Block.
I'm wondering how you carry a gun with no safety and a 3 pound trigger?

Multiple shooters and groups, on one target. About 7 yards. The one holes are just that. This gun was one hole, fast fire, at 7 yards.

The GLOCK 36 is the only GLOCK I have never really liked. The GLOCK 30sf is great, but I would skip the 36 for another make/model.

My father owns a G36 and it's a good shooter and all. But the ultimate CC Glock in .45 Auto is a G36 slide on a G30sf frame. Because you have capacity of the G30(10 rounds), yet you still have the awesomely thin 36 slide that we all love. It is a hybrid that is a little more costly than a stock Glock, but I feel it's worth it if you want to CC a 45 Glock and feel that the 36 just doesn't the capacity you are looking for.

My father is looking into buying a 30sf frame as I type.... ;)

Springfield. Been carrying mine daily for a few years and it's knocking on 10,000 rounds without a single hiccup. Also, I won't carry any weapon that doesn't have a mechanical safety other than the trigger.

Have you handled the HK45C yet? It is by far the best compact .45ACP on the market IMHO. I carry mine in a Kramer IWB with the extreme cant. It's comfortable to carry all day and to shoot. The pistol is far more accurate than I am and has yet failed to feed anything it's been offered. The fit and finish is spot on and the trigger is crisp. Do yourself a favor and try one on for size. I don't think you'd regret it. JMHO
