460 S&W recoil

I currently shoot a .500 S&W with the Magtech Lightloading 325 gr SJHP and its not bad at all.The .460 seemed to be a bit like shooting my .475 Linebaugh which is fairly easy to handle..Try using lightloads (lighter bullet weights help) I have shot big bore cals for many years so I am pretty use to them..I am at odds with smaller calibers..Also grips play an important part..But I am sure you know all this..

I think that kanook was just throwing out the common (and correct) thought that one should consider their accuracy as much or more than the caliber for hunting and/or self defense. I'm actually a very good shot, just hoping to hit my target with a little more kinetic energy at extended yardage.

Just for anyone who cares. I just scoped my 460 with a 2x fixed leupold and very heavy Warne base and rings. I used high rings so that my fat gloved thumb can fit between the hammer and scope eye piece next winter.

Just an update after 80 rounds of 240gr XTP Mags and 40 rounds of 200gr FTX, both loaded with mid-upper quantities of W296 and CCI 200 primers. The scope has stayed dead on and is shooting 2" groups at 50yds and 3-4" groups at 100yds. Should be pretty deadly come deer season so long as I have something to lean on!
