OK, sounds good. Now, think of some of the processes required for rifle and apply those and approach the 5.7 that way, but thinking that it's more like the 223 (crimped primers, semi-auto cycling) than 30-30. What makes the 5.7 difficult is the narrow range and the fact that with the blowback actions the cases stretch a lot. Add the coating and it's just so much more fun. The case stretching leads to shorter life spans as they are more susceptible to separations.

All is good. I'd rather load 5.7 than 380 for sure. Yeah, kind of a pain to size and trim correctly and odd to not tumble but dawn and hot water wash works just fine. The powders 5.7 like is the key, not like unique in a 45 for sure. .2 grains too much or too little for that fact is bad. Good thing is the powders it likes meter way better than unique.

thanks for the warnings! I’ll be extra careful

I can’t believe this over blown .25ACP is making me nervous

Lol, i lied. 40g vmax with true blue min 5.6 max 6.3.

I have never got my hands on the hotter military/police 5.7. It is for sale off and on and I guess I need to just buy a box to run through the chrono to compare my loads.

What trimmer ya using. Forster has a collet that works.

RCBS Trim 2... I believe

When I loaded 5.7x28, it was for an AR 57 which uses the same mags as the PS-90. Before I knew it was “wrong” to tumble the cases, I did, but they worked just fine anyway.

The shoulder blowing forward (a lot) when fired in the PS-90, the AR 57, and the FN 57 pistol is the bubaboo of the round, and what must be monitored carefully.

thanks, The Ruger 57 is a delay blow back. Not sure if that helps with shoulder blowing forward.

what does a should blowing forward look like?

1 reload is better than pitching brass. You could probably squeeze 2 out of the brass but I wouldn't do anymore than that personally.

Observation from Post#1 ...

Armscor sells sacks of Bullet Heads ? o_O

:)

===============

As I recall, it was Trent who took us along on his 5.7x28 Reloading Journey (Adventure?Quest?) several years ago.

At the time I really wanted to own a PS90, but I insist on being able to reasonably reload for all of my centerfire cartridges.

Following that Thread, I finally realized that there was much more involved than I was willing to do ...

... but I enjoyed the heck out of his posts. I looked for new installments every day. :)

Good Luck!

@Trent was also the one who brought the issues with 5.7x28 bullet setback to light. As I recall the American Eagle bullets had quite a bit of setback from just one chambering.

Those are 22 TCM, I’m going to shove it in and see what happens.

FYi people, I’m more of a redneck reloader. So my terms will not be fancy

guest I’ll just crimp the living daylights out of it

Dummy round for function test time. the neck its tight, but bullet goes in after some help and pressure. check out the instructions on sizeing and expansion. look at the expansion ball on the decapper pin

The most annoying thing is that it's a "pistol round" but you have to trim it after every firing, normally.

Doesn’t sound like 45 ACP where one can shoot and reload them until the headstamp is gone.

How many reloads does one typically get out of a case before it does this?

I should have picked it up when we were done playing with their P90 they are as much of a brass hose as they are a bullet one and the bottom eject would have made it pretty easy.

Some interesting info in this video, especially with his various cleaning techniques with respect to the lacquer coating.
