It seems that the ar Uppers for the Beowulf are becoming available, but ammo and reloading componets are almost non-existant (even before the current "Rush"). Will the Beowulf ever become more main stream with other manufacturers offering ammo and components or has Alexander Arm's kept everything Proprietary? I like the idea and would like to have one, but it seems to be a risky investment.

Thanks for any enlightenment.

I have had one since 2007 and yes ammo was hard to get even then, It took over 8 months to get my Beowulf and ammo. Great gun mated on a Superior Arms lower. No regrets ever.

Thanks for the comment. The upper has gone up about $100 since the shortage/election. Before I consider buying, I'll have to wait for ammo or components to become available. Who wants to own a new rifle they can not shoot?

Thanks again,

I stood next to a guy with one, and let me tell you it sure looks worth it! The fricking sonic boom from this thing was amazing. Can't speak for ammo, other than the gun rocks.

Also check out the 458 Socom. I have shot both and like the 458 over the 50. IMO the ballistics of the 458 are better than the 50, if only by a slight margin. If you reload, 458 dia. bullets are much easier to find than 50. And the 458 uses the factory mag with no mods, not sure about the 50.

I picked up a 50 Beowulf upper about a month and a half ago and I'll have to say it is quite a bit of fun to shoot. Took it out, shot it at a water filled milk jug and blew the milk jug into 4 separate pieces. The thing is a wrecking machine! As others have mentioned, ammo is hard to find. From what I understand, AA was trying to get another manufacturer to start producing ammo. I haven't heard anything as to whether they were successful or not. IIRC it was Wolf ammo that AA originally was talking to for production. If you buy a wulf, your best bet is reload for it. Brass is also difficult to find and your best bet is to back order it through AA and/or have Midway email you a notification when it comes in and jump on it when it does. As far as the mags go, you can easily mod them with a file to match what AA sells if need be. True, there are more bullet options for the 458, but there are still plenty of 50cal pistol bullets available that the wulf will be happy with.
