More than you know, I'm in the "mountainous" part of KS:D (we're also in color here)

It took a couple years to find a suitable piece of property for a range. Flat isn't really flat, when viewed from a bipod...

I looked at your pics. Looks pretty flat to me. I mean how bad can it be when your highest mountain is named after a flower?

Seriously though, shooting up that power line cut is a good deal. No big cactus sticking up or anything, and a nice gentle uphill slope.

He's not the whitest person I've ever seen, but he is way up there. Must sunburn on a cloudy day. Like my redheaded wife.

He was an Armor guy, you know the deal, they hardly ever get out of the tank, and even when they do they manage to stay on it...

Ya know those flowers get pretty freakin tall...right?

The power line right of way is a mixed blessing, nice place to shoot, but it cuts my limited woods in two, and I've got to keep it clear. IF I don't the power guys come in and either hose down the area with agent orange, or bring in a cool machine that grinds up stuff. Either way they make a mess. They normally send a letter that their crews will be out and to call IF I have any concerns. Usually the letter arrives about 2 days after the crew does..

I've thought about writing them a strongly worded letter, but I'd no doubt lose any eminent domain thing they could concoct.

My experience has been that grunts are pretty well covered with battle rattle, so it's about even in the tanning department.

I'll trade you some of this for some sunflowers. This is Cholla (Choy-Ah). It will jump on you if you get inside a couple of feet. It also blocks line of sight nicely.

I think the tricky part is walking away if the shot isn't there. There are a ton of people out there without that kind of will power. Certain muzzle loader hunters come to mind. Booming away at whatever they see whether it is close enough or not.

I think there's also a bit of Dunning Kruger effect going on. Folks that watch videos and read posts, only see or hear of the shots that worked. Nobody and I've yet to see of one, where someone admits to screwing up a shot.

I noticed that too. Nobody ever misses on Youtube and most always shoot sub MOA on the forums. A virtual utopia.

Guys, I could write a book on screw ups. I had a mulie start walking just as I squeezed one off at around 400 yards. Hit him through the hips. Had a buck standing broadside at 40 yards and I completely missed him with my 50 cal scoped Black Powder gun. Have no idea where it went, but I spent and hour looking for blood and found nothing. Had 4 deer walk behind a dozer deck with a nice buck in the lead. I shot the first deer that stepped out and it was a doe. She was legal, but so was the buck. I could go on but then I might get into turkey screw ups and that could take a while.

I did the same thing at Ft. Riley, only mine was worse..the 1st deer out was a little button buck. To make it suck more I had to take it in to the check station, where it was surrounded by decent bucks. While they weighed it in, as if that wasn't bad enough, they made it a point to mention they thought they could still see spots...

I guess that one was tender.....

I bet it tasted the best though
