What everyone needs to remember (and some have already said) is that the vast majority of people don't see guns. I print fairly often (Sig P232 in a IWB holster) and thus far no one has commented on the occasional odd drape of my shirt.
Mostly we're worried about three groups of people seeing our guns:
1. Cops. If it's legal, who cares?
2. Criminals. by far the most threatening group, but also the least common and by and large not the most observant. Think about how Bad Guys carry their guns...jammed IWB of baggy pants, or at BEST in a pocket, so they have to go around holding the gun up and constantly hiking up their drawers, and they still manage to get the drop on one another. OK, I'm joking, but this is the general trend. For a criminal to "make" you, he would have to observe you at a time whn you're printing clearly, observe the "bulge" itself, and identify it as a gun. Possible, but highly unlikely. All things being equal, it's best not to print...but all things aren't equal. I'd rather have a solid gun I can shoot well in a rapidly-accessible position than an invisible gun jammed elbow-deep in my pants.
3. Anti-Gunners who would scream "MY GOD HE HAS A GUN". These people usually need to be whapped upside the head with the cluebat daily to just get through life without wandering off a cliff or forgetting to breathe, so I doubt that their target identification, situational awareness and general perceptive skills are up to the task of readily identifying your 642 in a pocket from a cell phone.
YOU see guns because you're a gun nut. Other gun nuts see guns because they're gun nuts. So, you make your friends and your friends make you because it's what we do. By and large, the rest of the herd is just merrily cropping grass.
