Mosin can be a good option for cheap surplus ammo usage. My only comment is that my Mosin kicks like a mule! More so than any of my 308 bolt guns, i am assuming this has more to do with ergonomics than anything.

Looking for bolt action for atleast 5 round capacity and iron sights. Have 3006, want cheaper ammo.

That's the CZ 527M, a great light rifle, accurate and reliable. Mine is great fun to shoot with, love it.

This is a group shot at 200 yards, seated unsupported.

This is a group at 50 while I am trying to work up a really good cast bullet load for it.

Now if you're used to the looong range of 30.06 compared to this round, you will be disappointed, as the caliber runs outa gas about 300 yards or so, for me, but within that range it works well for me, and is fun to load for, too. :)

Not "cheap", per se, but I feel that I got more than my money's worth.

Another option for a bolt gun in 7.62x39 that nobody else has suggested is the Savage 10 FCM Scout. I came across it the other day browsing their website.

MSRP ain't really cheap but its a bolt gun in 7.62x39...

Edit: the link didn't work like it's supposed to. Under the Center Fire tab on the site, click on the Law Enforcement Series and it's the 4th one down.

Glad to see Savage finally has a 7.62x39 bolt gun in the market. I wish they propogate to other lines that have more affordable prices.
Anyone knows if it is .308 or .310 bore? So now Savage has a bolt head for 7.62x39?

Been looking myself, I'm interested in a bolt action with the 7.62x39 bolt face so I could rebarrel to a 6.5 Grendel.
