7.62x39 bolt gun

The word cheap sends chills up and down my spine. CZ makes a reasonably priced 7.62x39 bolt action rifle. As with all of CZ's product line it is a well make weapon.

Why a bolt gun? Just get an SKS.
some people will not have semi auto rifles for bench shooting. We won't get into the fuss regarding accuracy but people want what they want. Quality 7.62x39 ammo will shoot moa from a quality rifle. The Zastava rifles are similar to the CZ rifles, but the ones I have seen are slightly less pristeen looking. The eastern european manufacturers are more inclined to chamber guns in this caliber, for obvious reasons

Glad to see Savage finally has a 7.62x39 bolt gun in the market. I wish they propogate to other lines that have more affordable prices.

I agree strongly. I hope Savage puts out a Stevens 200 in 7.62x39--it would be a great gun for shooters on a budget.

Get a Yugo SKS. Turn off the gas port. Now you have a bolt action 7.62x39.

Toz-122 from CDNN. 6 Round detachable mag bolt action made in Russia. I don't own one nor have I shot one and I see reviews liking them and disliking them are out on the intertubes. For only $300 itd be cheap to see if you like 'em.

for a truck gun, get a Hi-point 9mm carbine. You can get for around $150 or less used, especially the old body style. 9mm ammo is cheap. I'm debating on getting one when Uncle Sam graciously gives me back some of the money he's been holding over the past year.
Cheap to buy, cheap to shoot, and actually pretty fun.

I have 2 Mosins. They have a bit of barrel rise but very managable. I'm in for both guns and 440 rounds of surplus for just over $300. That's inexpensive!

I bought one of the Remington 799s in x39 from CDNN for about $400. It was a nice little rifle, very light and well constructed with a surprisingly nice bluing job. While my groups ranged around 2" I'm convinced the rifle could to better. On two occasions while doing some rested shooting, I had the first two rounds go in one hole before the third shot opened the groups up to 2-2.5".......it was kind of frustrating, because the potential accuracy was there but i never was sure if the ammo was a little off, or the thin wispy barrel had just heated up by the third shot. At any rate it was plenty accurate to take a doe at about 80 yds this past October. Even though the 799 was really light, the low recoil made it quite fun to plink with at the range. I don't know how $400 fits in your definition of cheap, but I'd definitely say the 799 is worth a look if you can find one.

Dunkelhiet, we almost got those Enfield clones in here, but it turned out a bunch of it was made in Vietnam, and barred from importation, IIRC. I was interested in one back when they were new.
Yugo with the gas shut off, that's good! Good rifle, too, better accuracy than the regular SKS carbine, IMHO.
GTScotty, was that 2" at 100 yards? If so, not bad at all for a light carbine.

Yep, it was 2" at 100 yds using american made hunting ammo (Rem & Fed). The accuracy definitely wasn't bad, and if I hadn't needed to sell it to fund a Tikka T3 i'd still have it.
