Academy sports is selling Monarch brand (Barnaul) for $2.99 a box:eek:. I bought 2 cases yesterday at $74.75 per case + tax. I heard that when they ordered what was suppose to be 50,000 cases, they put one too many zeroes and ended up with 500,000 cases. I thought that this may be false so I called yesterday before I went to work and they said that they had it for $2.99 a box. I bought the 2 cases (1000 rds.) for $159.70. That was with Uncle Sams share. Wish I had more money to spend, I would like to buy a couple more cases. These cartridges are steel cased fmj. Thought that I would share this with you all. Go get it boys!!!! Buy it cheap and stack it deep.:D:D:D
 
It's also considered bad form to not tell friends about a deal when they come around, especially in these economic times. Take that sir:neener::neener::neener:

And no, I'm not the Bad Form Sheriff, but I didn't think it was necessary to jump on another member like that. And don't resort to the "saving bandwidth" nonsense, either.

Mods delete this micro-invective if my post here is itself in bad form. Or if there's a real Bad Form Sheriff around.

If you'll check out the thread I posted, he posted in it at 0218 this morning. 5 odd hours before these posts. If he wanted folks to see this "good deal", he could have bumped that one instead of spamming.
 
the spot price of lead and copper is down well over 50% in the last year. i would expect to see ammo prices drop substantially in 2009.

OK, then how about folks like me, that don't frequent the rifle forum? I wouldn't have seen it, even if it was bumped.

I agree, even though there is no academy anywhere near me.

If this deal goes over so well, maybe they will accidentally order half a million cases of 223 next time. :)
 
The 7.62X39 is still available in Fort Worth. The store on Cherry Lane has the 500rd. cases and the one by Hulen is down to 20rd. boxes only. The salesman said the sale would continue until December.
 
Man, I really wish there was an Academy Sports near me.

Partly to get this great deal, and partly to see how people react to a guy buying 5,000 rounds of rifle ammunition. :)
 
Dang I wish we had Academy in these parts, that's a great deal compared to what most places have been charging for other steel cased AK food.
 
Why does the cheapest .308 WIN steel FMJ cost so much more?

Anyway, it's good to see people have guns that don't make them squeamish over using steel.
