The Academy in northeast San Antonio at I-35/Olympia had two large pyramids of it on the glass counter. We were in town to "repo" the in-laws car and sell it soon, but they accept the idea. They have too many age-related problems to drive. Very lucky timing.
Was really surprised that other long-term Texas SKS/AK types had not made Academy stores their Primary Target. On Tuesday got 1,000 rds. then sneaked back the next two days (12 min. drive) for another 500. There should be a good bit left, if you are lucky enough to be in the area. Passed an Academy right by I-35 going north to or from Austin.
Are there so few SKS, AK or Mini 30 shooters in the SAT area? Five days ago, a staffer at a Little Rock store said that he had large amounts left over.
As for a few mail order websites elsewhere, a friend told me on Wednesday that certain types of Russian-made x39 are no longer available, i.e. Golden Tiger.
