It will be interesting to see how this affects the sales/popularity of the CZ 527s.

I think there's still a home for the CZ. For $200 more, it's hard to say you don't get your money's worth. Iron sights, a nice set trigger, a Mauser action, quality wood and bluing - what would some of that stuff cost if you tried to add it on a Ruger?

But at the same time, your average plinker or Bubba looking for a truck gun just wants a cheap, accurate rifle. I think Ruger will suck up a lot of sales from someone who wanted a cheap 7.62x39 in a bolt action, but settled on the CZ because it was pretty much the only game in town.

The drawback to clambering one in x54 is the corrosive ammo. New guns would be turned to rusty junk within the first month for the uneducated.

I am overly joyed about this new Ruger. I've been wanting a x39 bolt gun on the cheap for years now. I first saw the RAR several years a ago and immediately thought that Ruger should release it in the commie caliber. With the Obama-era gun rush and the overzealous prepping that was going on, they we're foolish not to release it then. It will sell now but not as much as it would have had they marketed it during the time when the zombies were chanting "guns" rather than "brains". (My self included)

Sold my Mini-Thirty recently so this new Ruger bolt carbine is the perfect replacement for it and cheaper too.

I am a veteran of two 527's, one in 7.62x39 and one in .223. I really love the overall look and quality, but could never get used to the backwards safety (as opposed to the Rem/Ruger/Winchester) and the fact that they are almost too nice to beat up. I don't beat up all my stuff, but these calibers in small light rifles are my mainstays in the truck.
