I was looking into purchasing a Remington 7615. I always hear their way overpriced but I was browsing some online actions and stores and it seemed they averaged around $650.00 which is pricey but not ridiculous. I like the idea of it being able interchange a lot of parts with my 20ga 870. I already checked a range report on them and they seemed decent but I still have questions. I know that the stock can interchange with a 20ga 870 but what about the for-grip? How is accuracy with good loads? Does it cycle wolf reliably? Will it be as reliable as my 870? I live in Ca and was thinking it would be a good alternative to a semi-auto because honestly you can cycle a pump about 1/2-3/4 the speed you can pull the trigger on a semi-auto. I like the idea of the pump action and am aware of all the alternatives.Wilson peep or standard sights? Finally what grain loads is 1:10 twist good for?

Here’s a picture of what I am looking at.

I've tried one with a ghost ring site fitted, it's pretty course and basically a close range proposition only. One of my friends has mounted an eotech red dot on his and has had some success hunting with it at distances out to 100 metres, including foxes and rabbits.
The slide needs to be worked with a bit of oomph to ensure it chambers.

I've no idea on the foregrip, or wether wolf will work in it.

If I lived in California, I would be all over that rifle.

It's an 870 in .223 that accepts AR magazines! What's not to like?

I guess the price is a bit steep, and the sight radius is lousy. For 200 bones more, you could get yourself a fine autoloading AR.

I shot one two years ago, when I was looking to "upgrade" from my lever action 30/30 and SKSs as a goto rifle.

I've grown up with pump shotguns, and I won't get into a pump vs auto debate, but I feel good about a pump in my hands. It was acurate out to urban ranges, and I feel just as go as the lever in ranges out to two hundred yards. I would take a deer with it, and I like the M16 mags. But, it never did anything that my 30/30 or SKS couldn't do, except for the mags with a higher capacity. And, thought I don't mind the 223 in an auto, I would "feel" better about myself and the rifle if it was in 308 and took the M1A mags.

BTW, the one I was shooting was going to cost me $450. And only some of the parts are exchangable with the 20ga 870.

I've been shooting a 7615 in our local 200 to 300m HighPower matches for the past two months. I've been scoring just under 400 and have scored first in the master class ans second overall both times:D Remember this is my first two matches.

My rifle is equipped with a Williams foolproof receiver sight giving a nice long sight radius for those long range shots. Bench rested groups (through the irons) avg right at 2" @ 100 with my 55grn handload

There is a variety of nice 7600 forends that will fit the 7615, But I think you'll be impressed with the factory stock set.

Reliability has been flawless EXCEPT for the one box of wolf I tried, A very strange issue. The ammo fed fired and extracted just fine but would not come off the bolt head. It was almost like case head was too large. But this was the only box I tried and I'm inclined to believe that it was just that particular batch of ammo.

According to remington the 7615P has a 1/9" twist, I've shot sierra's 69 BTHP with great sucess as well as a basket load of ss109

I paid $650 OTD supporting the local guy, I could have gunbrokered one up for $600 shipped. So I don't get where the overpriced comments come from, That's mini-14 type money for twice the rifle:evil:

There is one at my local store for a really good price that I've been keeping my eye on. It's about 5th down on my list of things to buy though, so I doubt it will still be there...next year sometime.

If I lived in California I'd have one in 223 and another (760) in 308. Remington makes great pump guns from 22s to 12 gauge. The 7615 is great because of its action and the ar15 mag.

I'd get one before the gun grabbing bastards in your state decide that they are too dangerous for law abiding people to have.

What about getting a 760 in 243 carbine and do it yourself accessorize. A poor man's 7615, in a better caliber IMHO.

Except for that whole readily available hi cap magazine thing.

A couple other niceties about the 7615P that you don't get on other Remington pumps, The trigger assy is made from aluminum as well as the magwell, it may look like plastic but it's not. The buttstock is also fitted with a limbsaver buttpad.

I admit those Remingtons have some kind inexplicable magnetism - I am not sure why, but I just want one. But that's a lot of dough for a pump action rifle, especially considering the 7600's are a lot less. Have you looked at the Keltec SU-16? Howz about an Olympic AR-15 plinker (around $600)? Consider all your options and if you still want the pump then go for it.
