Really enjoying my new Caldwell chrony and the Lyman Gen 6 powder dispenser.

Set up some tests with Ramshot Silhouette using Berry's plated, RMR plated, and a cast bullet from CB bullets which I found selling their wares at a gun show a while back. I am really surprised at how much my gun liked the cast bullet.

Berry's 124gr RN plated Silhouette 5.2gr OAL 1.16 CCI-500 primers
1130-1084-1058-1084-1038 fps
RMR 124gr RN plated Silhouette 5.2gr OAL 1.16 CCI-500 primers
1059-977-989-1024-989 fps
CB Bullets 125gr RN Silhouette 4.5gr OAL 1.10 CCI-500 primers
971-1006-1013-976-991 fps

Yes an L9-A1. :)

I think I should try to replicate the accuracy of that lead bullet with some other powders. I have HP-38, CFE-Pistol, Power Pistol, BE-86 and Universal to try out.

I want to find a nice soft load for this years centerfire pistol competition at the club. I took the lead cast 125gr down to 4.0 gr of Silhouette where it stopped cycling the gun.

Power Pistol, to me, seems to be one that performs on the high-end of the range. IMO, BE-86 has similar characteristics.
I can't comment on the others, as I've haven't tried them (yet).

The softest load I've encountered for 9mm was with CSB-1 & heavy bullets.
Very soft shooters, indeed ;)

Yes, nothing wrong with Power Pistol or BE-86 but the loads I have tested with those powders were fairly snappy. From what I gather Power Pistol really likes to be right up there at the top end of the load range. I saw the sooty brass as I worked up loads with it from starting charge weight. BE-86 seemed not dissimilar. I cleaned up and put the Silhouette away today after getting data from a group with a 147gr plated bullet.

Never heard of CSB-1, who makes it?

MAXAM Outdoors, a Spanish company. 1SOW & Nordeste (THR members) told me about this one back in 2014.
I tried it & liked it :D

I found about 4.5 grains of Herco with a 147 grain bullet to be very accurate and fairly soft shooting. If you have or can find some Herco, give it a try.

I see some posts comparing CSB1 to Unique and 231. Also echoing what you say, a nice soft shooting load.
