"I too would like to hear others opinion on recoil"

I always get flamed for this, but............

I honestly believe, that the biggest problem with recoil is the fact that it is discussed endlessly. People who have never fired a gun in their lives have heard since early childhood about "kick". It is almost a national obsession. I once made the mistake of going hunting with a buddy of mine, his wife, and my girlfriend. The two woman talked about recoil endlessly every time they got together. This was the primary topic of conversation-not planning the trip. Both of these woman had delivered babies. One of them was an insulin dependent diabetic who pokes a needle into her skin a couple times a day to administer insulin: yet the idea of a mild shove to the shoulder was something that they would NOT deal with. I had my girlfriend stand up and I gently pushed on her shoulder with my open hand. I asked how this could possibly be worse than delivering a baby ? Young boys play football, they fight, they fall out of trees, the crash bicycles............................ Yet recieving a mild shove to the shoulder is a traumatic experience ?
DONT GET ME WRONG, I am not bagging on people that complain about recoil. My point is that people talk about this so much, and probably anticipate it so much, that in their minds it is blown all out of proportion to what it is. I think it is a mental thing.
I don't have an answer because I have gone through this myself with people. I try to talk them out of the idea that recoil is a big deal, but so far I haven't found a way to convince them that it is usually only a very mild sensation that is a non-issue. I agree that these 9mm carbines have a surprising amount of recoil when you consider the caliber. My 9mm AR15 has just as much recoil as a 5.56 AR15.
My buddy actually was discussing having a muzzle brake installed on a .223 Encore for his wife to hunt deer with because she was so obsessed with recoil. :what:
