Ok first off the title is ment to draw you in and be misleading :D, but i had to share this it was too funny. So let me start off so this doesn't turn into caliber flaming whatever you carry if you shoot well with it AWSOME ;). Moving on.....

So have you ever ran into somone that saw you were a gun guy but diddn't realize HOW much and tried to teach you a thing or 3 about firearms. So I'm helping my buddy and his GF move into her house last night and their neigbor was saying hello being friendly...(I'm sure he's a nice guy), and at this point my shirt is no longer tucked over my S&W M&P 9mm.

So he turns the conversation to reloading and then later on asks me what I'm carrying, when I tell him he proceeds to say "OH well yea the 9mm is good for plinking but its not really a good carry caliber)......:what: I never knew so glad he told me that. :D. Not wanting to be drawn into one of THOSE conversations I simply said Oh really....and changed the course of the conversation to what kind of guns he shot and let him go from there.

Later on I couldn't help but chuckle to myself as I drove home. Anyway just thought I would share that....... Oh and I have been known to carry the same M&P in .45 maybe I'll find somone to tell me that I can't hit anything with that too hard recoiling .45 and shoult really think about getting something easier to shoot with more capacity............hmmmmmm where would i find something like that.....oh yea my gun safe .

The point of this post is simply to have a chuckle at the people out there who seem to have to tell you what you are doing wrong. :D

I had a similar situation in my ccw class. Our instructor who was retired LEO and an "ex"-Marine, carried an old Walther PP in .32acp. One of the students asked him why he carried such a puny round whilst we were qualifying at the range. Without saying a word, he stepped up to the line, drew, and proceeded to empty his magazine into the left eye region of a #5 silhouette target as fast as he could pull the trigger. I have still to this day not seen a shooting demonstration as impressive as that one.

Some people just cant grasp how fruitless the caliber debate is :)

Exactly Brian.... one of my comments wanted to be what he thought of the fact that 5 to 7 shots in 3 seconds to the centermass or cranial cavity from average defensive distance....how did he think that would be inneffective...buuuuuuut i restrained.

Even if you are wrong? How do you ever learn anything?

:neener::neener::neener::neener: to you too swampwolf ;)

What I love at the range is some kid who has a Desert Eagle in 50AE (and of course an AK, usually with a drum) because he saw one in a movie telling me before he sees me shoot, that a .45acp is a wimp round and is all hype. Then he steps to the line and blows off 200 dollars worth of rounds in about three minutes and they are spread all over a full sized silhouette at 7 yards. and all 100 of mine are in a large ragged hole in the center of the ten ring.....and it didn't take me longer to shoot them.

But he'll still have a BFH when he's through, you'll have a 40 oz. tack hammer at best! Now who's thinkin wit a big ol brain 8~).

Thanks for the giggles Sniper.

Watson,

Was that dude wearing a U.S. Postal uniform? If so, his last name must be "Clavin".

LOL no ..... I'm assuming there is a funny story that goes along with that .357

:D

I get that ALL THE TIME carrying a 357sig.....cracks me up. "Why do you carry that? XYZ (insert you pet caliber here) is so much better...... When someone says that I usually just ask them to stand there and take one to the chest and see how they feel after it. Usually saves me from having "that" conversation again.......That's why they make different calibers, keep us entertained!

Everyone knows the only caliber worth carrying is the .672 Sooper Flopenberger. It will stop a charging elephant with a ricochet, won't penetrate sheetrock in the home, and will only hit bad guys.

Seriously!

Would either of you like to be shot with a BB gun? I certainly wouldn't.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying, or maybe I misunderstood the posting...I think 9mm is certainly enough

For real bfc if you can hit fast and accurate with that then hell yea!! :D....... I personally cannot with that round but that's me doesnt fit me ...... but guess what :what:......I'm not you. Its just as funny as a guy trying to tell me I'm TOTALLY wearing the wrong shoe size...."But my feet are a size 11"........"No no no you should totally be wearing a size googlehimer...... its the best size for anyone...." :D:D:D

Been there, done that don't want to do it again!:D

Just agreeing with the OP, 9mm is a fine CCW caliber and I find it funny that some folks feel obliged to tell you that what your carrying is bad. To each is own.

Sides BFC you are you are carrying a 9mm.......... a 9mm with serious case of the ROIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

There are three things every American male thinks he can be with absolutely no training, knowledge or experience: Firearms expert, movie actor, and President of the United States.

Shows what you know. My blue phaser is better because it operates at a higher frequency than red, so it is faster and better penetrating (blue light does penetrate better). Duh.

:neener:

But what do I know? I switched from carry a 40 cal, to 45 ACP, to 9mm and my next switch looks to be 38sp +p...so I'm obviously caliber ignorant. :)

After shooting in the lane next to someone with a Glock chambered for the .357 SIG I would never denigrate that load. Friggin STOUT!

(btw, I have 20 .357 SIG brass, fired once, if anyone is interested in them for shipping costs.)

When you run into "that guy", you can always tell him you carry the "best of both worlds", a pocket .380 re-chambered for .50AE... that should buy you enough time to get away while he looks it up on the Internet.

I feel as though 9mm and up are good enough while those lower caliber require more of the users part for better shots. I wouldn't feel unarmed with a .22.
