I need some feedback. I am reloading for my wife's Glock 17. I have a Lone Wolf Barrel so I can use cast lead bullets.

However, the attached photo is of a cartridge that I shot using Hornady 124g XTP with CCI 500 primers and 4.6 grains of Titegroup. Note that the primer imprinted on the bolt face. Is this a sign of over-pressure, poor headspacing or what?

OAL is 1.120" with the COL of 0.753" to 0.754". The cartridge is taper crimped with a Lee Factory Crimp.

I have never attached a photo before but will see if this works.

Hodgdon lists 4.4grs of Tightgroup as maximum for a 125gr jacketed bullet, assuming that you got your load data from a reliable source like the Hornady manual but it looks like its a maximum load and as such you're likely seeing over pressure.

If you worked the load up using a start load which should have been around 4.1grs and increasing by .1grs you would have seen the changes as pressure increased.

All the books I have list either 4.2 or 4.4 grains Titegroup as max charge, depending upon bullet manufacturer and seating depth. Attached photo works, friend. It really doesn't look excessive, it just looks like it was fired from a Glock. Where did you get your load data?

I've been scooping up as much brass as I can every time I go to the range - often I get alot of brass that looks like this - I call it a "smeared primer" when I'm trying to describe it. It looks almost as though the firing pin was moving up and down when it struck the primer?

This is a Glock symptom?

I had a Sigma 40F that would smear them like that too, even with factory rounds (especially the Blazer aluminums). Doesn't look so much like excessive pressure but you are running them on the hot side. My Glock 27 will do that with stout loads. Like it's cycling the action before the firing pin fully retracts. Never had any problems with the loads in either gun. Where did that load data come from?

My glock imprints the primer much the same way when I use CCI 500primers with loads that are way below max so I am not sure that is the most accurate indicator of overpressure.

That is 100% normal for a Glock. They have a large firing pin opening in the front of the slide so the FP won't jam due to dirt and such; what you see is the soft primer metal deforming into the oversize firing pin hole, and every Glock in the world does this I've ever seen.
Your charge is over (book) max for a std 9mm load but I routinely run 124-JHP with 4.7 gr of Titegroup for a more +P style loading.

I misquoted, I looked at my records and the rounds are 3.9 g of Titegroup. It appears this is a Glock thing.

Thanks for all the information.
