Simple question, how available is the 9mm Largo compared to the Mak? Seems newly manufactured 9mm Mak is everywhere, is Largo produced by anyone?

Also, any opinions on the Star Modelo Super?

I think the Modelo Super is a neat pistol.

But I fear that 9mm Largo ammunition is pretty much gone. We don't have Spanish Nationalists to sell it to us as we have our friends who used to be our enemies cranking out Communist calibers.

Strange, when I call that up, it says: "Prices current as of 5/2004."
You think they still have stuff from 3 1/2 years ago?

    I know they do.
If you don't like that source you can get the stuff from AimSurplus and J&G Sales.
They get it from Surplus International too.

OK. I stand corrected. You gotta admire somebody who can hold prices steady these days.

Although Makarov is rising in price, it is a plentiful cartridge and made by a number of factories. Surplus Largo is drying up and future surplus imports are doubtful. New Largo ammo might be available from small specialty producers, but you're out of luck if you're on a budget or like to shoot a lot. If you must choose one, go with the Mak.

If you're shooting a Star or Llama in 9mm Largo, you can reload .38 Super brass to .38 ACP power levels, and it will most likely work just fine. Do not shoot .38 Supers in the guns.

9MM Mak is available anywhere short of Wal-Mart. The 9MM Largo, I have found only in a few select places. www.sarcoinc.com has LOTS of non-corrosive and corrosive surplus ammo. It has the same recoil as a 9MM Luger, but seems more fun to shoot. Who knows?

I have one and it is a cool little pistol, but I have yet to shoot it.

    I see lots of 9mm Makarov. I don't think I've ever seen 9mm Largo.
