9mm Para FMJ for self defense

When was the last time you were in a gunfight? I've missed at 5 yards.

We all can miss at 25 feet. Each and every one of us. Even super-ninjas. We may be good at the range even IDPA competitions, but when the adrenaline is coursing through your veins, things are very different.

I won't miss with my G17 at 25 feet.

That claim relies upon the very large assumption that you can perform under life-threatening stress in the same way you perform while under no stress of ay kind.

What life threatening stress? I do not expect to lose a gunfight, with two or three of my +p+ 115gr JHPs ripping through the chest of my assailant.

Ah, then a chest-thumping, "I am invincible and have nothing to fear" it is.

This topic (accuracy under the stress of a gunfight) is way off-topic. The OP asked for recommendations as to what kind of FMJ we'd use to defend ourselves. Let's permit the thread to return to its course.

I once had a very mad pit bull lunge at me from the car next door in a Walmart parking lot. I calmly drew my Glock 17 and almost shot the dog in the face, but I was able to see that the pit bull was held back by a leash. I was calm and cool with the dog's teeth snapping only inches away from my throat.

And your point is…..?

Since you seem determined to drag this thread off topic-

It appears that you've managed to convince yourself that you are incapable of missing a shot during a gunfight at a range of 25 feet or less.

In light of this astounding claim, a simple question comes to mind.

Can you tell us exactly how many gunfights have you been in (at ranges of 25 feet or less) in which you performed at the level you claim that you are capable of achieving- that is, a 100% hit rate on a threat (25 feet away or less) that is attempting to kill you?

Years ago I met a German Police Officer who was here in the states on convalescent leave. He had been attacked and nearly killed by a knife wielding assailant. He managed to draw his Walther P5 from the issued flap holster and fire two rounds. He went to the hospital for a month and the other guy went to the morgue. The issued ammo was the Hirtenberger FMJ 100gr +P+. He was very pleased with its effect. I don't know if that round is available to you or if it is even still made, but it worked that time.

I'm sitting on 250 rounds of it I got from J&G, but don't think it's available anymore.
