I am currently in the market for a full size 9mm pistol with a metal frame. I don't know exactley what I want. Looking for ideas, any suggestions?

FM M 95 Classic. Made under license from Browning Hi-Power Blue Prints.
$325.00 - $400.00 depending on how much you shop. About half the price of a BHP and uses the Same parts. A BHP $650.00 - $800.00 depending on options
Taurus or Berretta 92's are O'k but not to my preference I like the way those BHP's feel in my hands.
Can't recommend a polymer frame as I don't like them and you don't want one anyway.

Steel frame: Browning Hi-Power
Alloy frame: SigSauer, Beretta 92FS
Polymer frame: Glock, or HK USP

Now that I think about it, there arn't that many 9 mm pistols with steel frames.

Steel frame pistols give you some nice choices like:

CZ 75/85
CZ SP-01
Browning/FN Hi Power or clone
Ruger P series
Steel frame Sig P226

Aluminum frame gets you some like:

Beretta or Taurus 92 series
Sig P226
Not sure what else is out there in a true full size

Taurus PT92

you can pick them up very cheap and they are well made, excellent guns that are pretty darn accurate. check www.budsgunshop.com.
I have had mine for 6 years and it has never jammed, misfired, anything. Best buy for the money in my opinion.

Browning Hi Power - a real one, not a clone if you can swing it
CZ-75B or compact CZ

Fullsize 9mm pistol...wow! you will have alot of options to choose from. In a steel gun, I like the Browning Hi Power and in aluminum, I like the Beretta 92 line of guns...fs, Elite or Brigadier all will work well for you
Enjoy your quest ;)

CZ and Hi-Power are the first to come to mind. Beretta, Sig and then there's the 1911 variants made by Caspian, STI and such. Somebody who was really into the 9mm could triple this list in about thirty seconds. There are plenty of options, as 10-ring said.

What do you intend to do with the pistol? If it's for range use only, Rugers offer some well built pistols, but they pretty much rule out CCW, as they conceal like a cinder block.

You need to go at least handle, if not shoot, as many 9mm pistols as you can find and see which one you like, since all of us are probably more than a little biased. :p  :D

for a 9mm fullsize

Just for fun, for no reason at all, I'd go with one (or more:D ) of the following in this order:
Sig 226
HK USP
Browning HP
Beretta 92

You just got to try as many as possible and don't rush into buying anything! Take your time trying out as many as possible. It does get expensive renting many guns however I think it is worth the time and money in the end. You want to feel really good with a firearm purchase!!!!

The M9

The finish takes a serious beating. The M9 right now can be found really cheap (at least the m9's without the rail) around the high 300 lower 400 before tax. Probably the best deal going on

except for the stoeger cougar. it used to be beretta but they sent all the equipment to stoeger to make them. seriously probably a best buy 350 when they used to sell for 650-700

Probably my favorite handgun of all time is the CZ-75. Mine was my first handgun about 6 years ago and still gets the most range time. I don't even know how many thousands of rounds I've put through it and it's never had a jam that wasn't due to bad ammo (I've shot a lot of cheap crap through it  ). I just wish I had as much faith in the round as I do in the gun. Fortunately, it comes in a few sizes, capacities, action types and calibers, so there's a CZ-75 that should fit everyone's wants. One day I'm going to come across a full size CZ-75B in .40S&W locally and I'm going to buy it on the spot.

It also has an optional 22LR Kadet slide kit that turns it into a very accurate and fun 22 autoloader. I'd put mine up against a stock Buckmark or Ruger MkII for accuracy, reliability and ease of use any day.

If you only want metal frame, go Ruger P89. My first step into composite frames was the Ruger P95 which I love. Not pretty pistols, but highly relable pistols.
