Mark54g, if I'm not mistaken the P-series are only available in aluminum and plastic frames. They're fine, excellent, rugged, all-American pistols though.

doubleg, if you like the Beretta go for it. The 'brunition' finish is OK and seems durable from what I've seen. As zachsm said, you can save money with a regular 92FS/M9 or a Stoeger(division of Beretta with a factory in Turkey) Cougar. If you want the M9A1 specifically, go for it.

+1 on the Browning Hi-Power, but only if you get the mag disconnect removed to improve the trigger pull. Any gunsmith can do it, but I believe there are also do-it-yourself directions on the internet. Second choice would be the CZ 75B if you have medium or large hands. For me (with small hands) the reach to the trigger is too long, except for the single action version.

I am currently in the market for a full size 9mm pistol with a metal frame. I don't know exactley what I want. Looking for ideas, any suggestions?

I would recommend the Beretta 92FS. Very good gun for the money.

+1 for the Sig226

Theres no better gun on the market. Other guns I would suggest include the Walther/S&W P99 and the S&W m&p. I agree that it is very important for you to go a feel out what you like. Even if you can't shoot the guns just fondle them:) see what you like most and what fits best in your hand. Best of luck. -Sniper

For the best 9mm look at the Walther P88, but be prepared to spend 1k or more.
For more affordable options look at the Cz-75 or Bersa Thunder 9 Fullsize.
If you open up to polymer look at the Walther P99.

the last two i was seruisly thinking about getting were the p89 and the beretta

so i went to the range and i couldnt stand the mag release on the p89 so beretta it is!

i plan to make it look identical to this... also one last question is the finish on the m9 the same as the 92?

Santa Claus just brought me a NIB Smith & Wesson 5906.

And Santa Claus knows what he's doing, right?

So Santa and I recommend that you at least check into it.

:D

P.S. That's one fine looking "Burrito" there, Doubleg!

I saw a dealer selling 2 Sigarms P-226R 9mmNATO pistols. These are the DHS(Homeland Security) issue with the new DAK trigger system. I may buy one if I can get the $$$ together.

PS: To learn more about the SIG P-226 series see www.sigarms.com . Also the R means these pistols have a tactical rail for white lights/laser aimers/etc.

Another vote for a Ruger P89. Shoots anny kind of crappy ammo I put in it and asks for more. And a heck of a lot cheaper than any of the others listed above. About the only pistol cheaper is a Hi-Point, which I would not touch with a 10 foot pole.
