9mm Powder

+1.

forrest r, don't get me wrong, WST can produce very accurate loads but I hesitate recommending on THR due to Hodgdon/Winchester not publishing load data for 9mm as there are many good powders for 9mm with published load data out there that meter well, are consistent and relatively clean burning as OP requested.

If you like to tinker, and you run across any Vihtavuori powders, they are the nicest powders I've ever worked with (yeah, not cheap though).
I use N340 in 9mm and N310 in 45 auto. Super clean/complete burn. No greasy residue or leftover flakes.

As a novice reloader I had the same question as the OP. Wow, there are so many wonderful responses...and choices. I have been using Win231 based on advice from a few very experienced folks locally. It works well for me. But, then I haven't tried anything else as yet.

Another vote for BE-86 with a 115 grain FMJ or JHP, but from everything I've read, you've got a very good powder in CFE Pistol, I've never tried it myself.

WST & AA#2 are well worth taking a look at. Both powders are known for their extreme accuracy in cartridges like the 32lc/38spl/9mm/44spl/45acp.

Really enjoying / appreciating everyones WST comments!
UPS brought me 8 lbs of WST today,,, Had it earmarked for 38/45 ACP, but I'm suddenly thinking (a little) might find it's way into some of my 9mm loads as well!
