I was just wondering what 9mm revolvers there are out there and what experience people have had with them. I like the idea of having a revolver as a ccw and also in a pistol round that I would already be buying for my other guns.

The only 9mm revolvers currently in production are the Taurus 905 adn the Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible.
S&W made the 547 (k-frame) and 940 (j-frame) and Ruger made the SP101 and Speed Six in 9mm but all of those are relatively hard to find and, while not too popular when they were new, they command premium prices these days.

From what I understand, the Model 30 was first built on the I-frame, and then moved to the J-frame in 1961, where it stayed in production until 1976.

The Taurus 905 is the only one I know of that is still in production. Out of production are the S&W 940, S&W 547, Ruger SP101, Ruger Speed Six and Astra Barracuda. The Blackhawk had a changeable cylinder, not sure if it is in production. The Charter Arms is still to make its appearance.
9 mm revolvers are great shooters and the S&W 547 is the most accurate revolver I have shot. Wish they would reintroduce it.

My wifes carry revolver is the Taurus 905,..it shoots well,..albeit a bit snappy,..but it works for her, ...and she likes it. Loads and unloads quickly with the Taurus stellar clips. Have had zero issues with it.
I also have an Old Model Blackhawk .357/9mm convertable. Yes, Ruger still makes them, but in the New Model design,..some claim they experience bad accuracy with the 9mm cylinder. Mine does fine. YMMV

The 'creme de la creme' of 9mm revolvers is the late, lamented S&W 547. Unlke all others, it was designed as a dedicated 9mm variation on the Model 10, usable without moon clips and featuring a floating firing pin and a secondary pin to hold the rim properly to ensure proper seating for reliable ignition. A specially designed extractor popped out the fired cases, also reliably. They came in a 3" round butt and a 4" square butt version. I have one of each and they are a joy to shoot. Made only for a few years, they are tough to find and show up rarely. They also fetch a stiff premium. I'd like to see them brought back. Dave

Funny, same here! I have 5 different S&W's and she loves that 9mm, she also has the hot pink Houge grips on it for a girly touch. It is a nice wheelie, I must have got a good Taurus.

I had a Taurus model-905 with the 2 inch barrel it had moon clips and after a while they started to get bent.Also the gun stung my fingers and practically jumped out of my hand.The ruger blackhawk convertable would be more fun to shoot.I origianally wanted it because I have a S&W in 9mm and I liked that a revolver shot the same ammo.It a great gun to conceal but I like to shoot not hide it down my pants.I dumped it.Buy one and sting your fingers off.The 9mm is a high pressure round the 38-special is better fun.

There was the Medusa Model 47 revolver which apparently fired virtually every ".38 or 9mm" caliber cartridge in existence.

I recall reading a review of it -- in Guns Magazine, IIRC -- in which the author's experience was that the only cartridge the Medusa fired with any accuracy was the .357.

How does it work for carry, are the moon clips really as bad as some people say. Thanks ahead of time.

I have had good luck with my Ruger New Model Blackhawk 4 5/8 357/9mm revolver. Actually I shoot more 9mm rounds through it than 357 or 38 special. I have shot out to 15 yrds with 9mm and its very accurate. The good thing is they are not expense. I paid $400 for mine used. I consider it my all around revolver.

My 905 works great for carry, much like any other J-Frame type revolver would. I don't carry that specific one, because I carry a semi-auto now, but it has the same dimensions kinda as the LCR I carried for a while. I carry pretty much all my guns either in a cargo pocket (a big one on some nice roomy shorts) or an OWB holster under a nice and loose shirt. So no issues there.
The moon clips ... well ... I'll be honest. I don't use them. I don't know if all 905s do this, but if I turn the gun up, the fired 9mm brass simply falls out. Sometimes I tap it and *then* it falls out, but the cases don't really stick. the moon clips Taurus gives you are arguably kinda flimsy. So when I carry it with self defense loads I do use them, but not in normal usage. The moon clips are sturdy enough for occasional use, like when you carry it for self defense, but for regular shooting I could see where they bend. There's some companies though, online, that make super duper sturdy ones, I hear.

I had a Smith 940 when they first came out. I shot some CorBon +P in it and had to beat it open with a mallet. It worked fine with standard pressure rounds.

Charter Arms was SUPPOSED to come out with a 9mm revolver (and other Auto calibers too, IIRC) a while back but haven't heard anything about it in quite a while.

S&W 547. It didn't require moon clips. The extractor was the weakest part of the gun, however. Came it 3" & 4". I had the 3" barrel. Not much to look at, typical K-frame. It shot decent groups for me. 1" to 2" at 50 ft. They go for around $1K these days.

I assume what you mean is a cylinder that is only long enough to hold 9mm and no longer...and a frame of matching length. A little 5 shot snub with appropriate length frame and cylinder would be very handy. I'd like a top break version.
Many people might not realize that a 9mm+P is generally speaking slightly more potent out of uber short barrels than 357mag is.
