A good buying story

I went to the Dundee store when it just opened up. First Cabela's I ever visited. Wow!

Some of the small guys should learn this lesson

I like to shop at the local shops. Buy from the little guy when I can, but some of my local shops could use a lesson in customer service.

Case in point, there is a little hole in the wall gun shop/smith that I bought the majority of my reloading supplies from. I don't save anything over ordering them online, but I like to support local business. I have been in his shop several times looking for a target barrel for my 22 pistol. He has never had one, and despite multiple requests, over the course of a couple of years, never ordered the part. I was cruising gunbroker and found the pistol I was looking for with two extra target barrels for the right price, so I bought them. It was always his stated rate of $20.00 to receive a gun and do the proper paperwork. I went in, told him I had bought a gun I needed to have him receive, He asked what it was, and proceeded to tell me it would be $40.00 because he had one in the case. In his words, it doesn't make any sense for him to receive a gun that he is trying to sell. I haven't been back to his shop and I won't go back unless I have to have something and can't wait for it to be shipped. If all I am as a customer to wring every last dollar he can out of, I see no reason to support the business. I try to be loyal in my business, but I expect the same in return.

The extra $20 he was trying to make has cost him hundreds in future business.
