Well Friends, a few months ago I posted this link and thread about a friend of mine who had to deploy a weapon while working to apprehend a criminal.

Today, he had to actually use his weapon in self defense, killing one of two attackers who robbed him. Check out the continuing story here.

This man and his family are some of the nicest and generous people I have ever met, and am sorry that this had to happen. I am glad his injuries were minor (He was out collecting from his parking lots after the incident, so he was not hurt too bad.).
I believe that this is the type of situation that Texas had in mind when we enacted our CHL program. He was not acting as a deputy when the incident occurred, but as a private businessman. (But the media has to add it's own spin on the story, just like the first story. Funny how the actual person involved in the event almost always has a different story from the one told by the media.)
For all us gun nuts, it was three shots from a .40 cal Smith and Wesson that sent the perp. to his just due.
