A letter to Walmart

I don't think I want to give my money to Walmart. I have found I can get decent prices online from Midway, Powder Valley, Missouri Bullet Company and Rocky Mountain Reloading for everything I need.

Um, no. They are not two different businesses. They may be two different channels. But they realize the value of the aggregated buying power and the scale of their combined customer base. And the revenues and profits all roll up to one corporation, and one P&L, with one stock symbol.

I thought only lefties (such as myself) were anti-Walmart? :) I confess that I have sinned and purchased a few boxes of WWB at my local store. But in general, Walmart has done more to hurt our economy, the availability of U.S. manufacturing jobs, and I dare say the sense of product 'value' and 'volume' for the home consumer more than any other U.S. company.
Is it still true that on the first day of employee training, because many work less than the legal limit for 'full time employment' they instruct on how to file for U.S. Federal benefits?

Yeah, screw Walmart. They're already having plenty of luck reducing competition (and therefore consumer selection and employment) in other areas, no need to hope they make a more concerted effort to do that to firearms retailers too.

The photo posted by Hacker looks like my local (Christiansburg, VA) store. I don't buy much there, as the don't have bulk handgun bullets, and my local store has better prices and selection for powder.

That's amazing. I wish my Walmart sold that stuff. Hell, my Walmart doesn't even sell guns. I have to fetch someone in automotive just to buy ammo and even then, they won't sell handgun ammo unless we show them our permit.

Ours here has reloading, however everything is behind the counter. The person behind the counter has no clue what he is doing. I went looking for a shell holder, he started looking at the packages. I told him to look in the book hanging by a string next to it. He started looking got frustrated and said they didn't have it, I knew different but oh well spent my money elsewhere.

Ours where I live in NC is getting better, I even saw .243 WSSM ammo for sale.

They recently started selling assult weopons, like .223s and assult shotguns. I didn't stop to see what they were, but was surprised to see them at all.

No pistols though.

@B!ingo I didn't say that they were 2 different companies. Maybe I should have used the word 'division' instead of 'business', but my point is correct. They have completely different lines managed by different buyers. Don't expect what you see sold in 1 to appear in the other. Some products overlap, but it's not a given.

No reloading here. My local wally world is selling AR's now though. They've had a Sig, DPMS 308 and a few bushmasters so far.

Location to location is weird. In Pueblo, CO, the north I25 W-M (newest store) has nothing. They said they sent all their supplies to the SW store. I checked there and all they had were primers, at $3.15/100, and a good supply to boot. I loaded up. I wish they had powder and bullets.

I guess I took to literal an interpretation. Yes, I agree with you. Sorry for the confusion.

Screw China-mart. I've got connections in the same town as Powder Valley. Not trying to brag or anything but its pretty much awesome!

Wally world in Cheyenne,WY sells some reloading supplies.Their stock was similar to the posted pic in this thread. They also sold black guns, mostly .22RF versions, but one 5.56/223 version.

My local Walmart has some basic reloading equipment for shotgunning, but nothing for rifle or handgun.

The store closest by me--there are like 9 stores in the area--can't even keep cat food and PUR filters for the fridge in stock even though there are empty slots on the shelf.

Its been over a month and the cat is getting skinny j/k

So good luck with reloading supplies

Midway and Grafs online are your best bets

You ought to try Widener's sometime or even Powder Valley. Cause them two alone put MidwayUSA and Graf's to shame unless you live near or in Mexico, MO. or Columbia, MO. I just ordered 6k of Wolf KVB-223M SMALL RIFLE for $15.50/k and 2 each 8# jugs of AA2200 for $129.75/pc for my 6.8 SPC, I'd like to see the other two match that. Plus being a Missouri resident, I'd have to pay sales tax ON TOP of the haz fee and regular shipping cost.

Holy smokes! Just did a price comparison with Midway USA vs. Widener's for the same order:eek::

Midway-$551.00=higher prices, sales tax, double hazmat fee(guess they don't ship powder & primers together), drop ship fee plus normal UPS ship charges!:barf:

Widener's-$431.00=lower prices, NO sales tax, one hazmat fee and the normal UPS ship charges:D.

Hell of a difference there folks!:what:

My Wal Mart carries supplies for shot gun reloading only also. Of course there are 4 skeet ranges in a town of 25k so.....

Really? They sell select fire and full auto fire guns at your WalMart?

At mine, they sell .223 AR pattern rifles, and 18.5" barrel pump action and semi auto shotguns, but they sure don't sell assault weapons. I'm sure yours doesn't either.

No "assault weapons" at my WalMart....but they do sell ARs, shotguns, and many other different sporting rifles.

Gentleman, there's little point in being nit-picky about the term assault weapon, particulrly as it is a non-technical term. That said, Title XI, subtitle A of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 did provide a legal definition of an assault weapon and Walmart is certainly selling things that meet that description of that expired law.

There's no point in being snarky about it, especially as the poster didn't say "assault rifle", a term with a much more specific definition. On the other hand, The Gun Digest Book of Assault Weapons features the Hi-Point carbine. Go figure.
