a solid .40 defender

I really hate to start another..help me choose..
But. I'm really having a hard time deciding here. I'm saving for a 1911, but that's another story. I'm limiting myself to $500 for a decent .40 S&W back-up gun. At least that's what I'm calling it. I already have a carry piece so I'm not looking for a carry piece. Just a decent
high capacity
solid
affordable
USA made
.40 caliber autoloader.

Does not have to be compact. And I don't want/need another Glock.
Right now I'm leaning towards the BSR40c, unless you can really sway me otherwise.
This gun would be kept in the man shed so something fairly affordable fits the bill.

The Ruger SR40 is probably an excellent option. I would get the full size and not the "c", especially since you aren't looking for a carry gun.

Take a look at S&W 4006, 4003, 4003TSW. Your price point should cover it.
