Aarp

AARP rhymes with CARP and both (in my book) are bottom feeders. They purport to be advocates for Seniors ... but look at their track record on medical care, Soc. Security issues, and yes ... guns (plus many other things) and you'll see that their interests (leanings) are generally in a different direction. However, they are a heck of a good marketing agent for all the trash marketers out there with their special insurances, vacation plans, condo/resort opportunities, etc., etc., etc. Hardly a week goes by that I don't get at least one special deal from or through AARP.

i have been getting the aarp stuff for some time now....
(i am mid 50's) and i finally decided to send the stuff
back to them with a little note about their position on
guns....

interestingly.....the mail from them has stopped coming

now....if i could get "bets are us" to stop sending their stuff
i would be really happy....have called them more times
than i can remember....darn!

it only took about 15 calls to the local pennysaver for them
to stop dropping off their stuff on my front stoop

I have never figured out what they really are,BUT I think they just are a business that sell products.but I have known they are antigun.and as one poster said they cater to the senior who are looking for discounts.me I would not touch them with a 10 ft pole.:uhoh::rolleyes::D

I have a standard response that I return to them (in their envelopes) every time I get a solicitation from them.

It says, "When you stop funding organizations whose mission is to disarm the very people you rely upon for the AARP's financial survival, I will join. Until then, consider me just one more person you'll never receive a dime from because of your intent to leave older and senior citizens entirely at the mercy of criminals."

But they continue to send solicitations, anyway. Guess they have me on IGNORE. :)

Even if AARP were not anit gun, I would never join any socialist organization. It should be your job to save for your retirement and health care, not other taxpayers.

When they called me I asked the kid on the phone if he owned any guns. He said yes he did, I then asked him if he was aware of the AARP anti gun stance. He again replied he was aware of it, I then asked him to make a note that as A life NRA member I would never join any organization that was against my gun rights, he said he would then hung up. They never have called back.

AARP supports the liberal agenda and donates money to organizations and candidates that support gun control. I learned that a long time ago.

I told them several years ago that I'm a member of the NRA and to take me off their mailing list and their phone list. And I tell all my patients (I'm a pharmacist) what I think about them and several have also dropped them as their medicare part d provider. rugerman

BTW, the website for NASCON looks very interesting, indeed. Now that I'm no longer blissfully ignorant, I intend to send annual dues their way...:D

Socialist Agenda

I once joined AARP because I thought I'd get discounts on hotel rooms when I travel. After reading their propoganda it is easy to see they are socialist with a definite LIBERAL bias. They try to convince their membership that the GOP is trying to take away their socialist security check and we all know what a scary thought that is to their membership. Yes, they are really just an insurance peddler like some other insurance peddlers that purport to be for the average guy. I won't renew with them even if they did have good discounts, which they don't.

Nascon

The NASCON website is still up, but the contact number is not in service, and contact links don't work. I'm not sure whether they are still in existence, or not . Sorry if any hopes (including my own) were prematurely raised.

However, I still intend to allow the AARP membership to expire. Thanks, again, for all of the input.

All someone has to do is CALL them and tell them that you do not want their 'mail' as you do with ANY other organization that keeps sending you JUNK mail. Tell them that you are on a DMA and CRA list which states that you do not want your name/address sold, rented or leased. Permanent OPT OUT. If need be - write to them if the 'call' does not work. I love it (Not!) when they are too stupid to check their 'lists' and want to SELL something to a DEAD person too. Been there - done that with my late husband and other loved ones.

If they are anti gun, AARP is and that is OLD news, tell them that is Another Reason why you do not want their crapola mail.

You can do this with compromising gun organizations too! You can do this to sell out/bail out politicians too. :) You can use YOUR power to avoid, boycott, not vote for anyone, etc. in ANY issue.

It is not complicated. Use it or lose it - YOUR own power, your common sense and the brains that the good Lord gave you!

Live free or die,

Catherine
