Accumulating older Piettas

The problem with using ammo stronger than cowboy ammo isn't with the conversion cylinders, its the softer steel of frame itself.
Well, apparently it's not a problem. Because the 1000fps rating fully encompasses standard pressure .45Colt and the .45ACP version far exceeds it by 50%!

Note, in this quote from my post, I specified "C&B" as in Cap and Ball.
In response to a question asking if you can use smokeless in a conversion cylinder. Conversion cylinders are not limited to cowboy loads. Seriously, take the misinformation elsewhere.

Years ago I spoke to a gunsmith at the Howell facility, it was very enlightening and I should probably call again to get their thoughts on using Berry's plated bullets. Anyway, what was stressed was that jacketed bullets not be used because the force required to push them thru the bore is exceptionally great and causes strain on the weakest part of the frame, which is the area where the loading ram is housed. Lead bullets, even hard cast, are okay to shoot up to 1000 fps.

When I load ammo to shoot in conversions, I really don't do anything different, but I wouldn't be loading max charges of Unique. My go to powders are Trail Boss and 700x for conversions.

I wonder about plated bullets because while they're copper plated, it's much thinner than a jacket and likely won't put as much strain on the frame. I would prefer to use them over lead because it's cleaner.
