ACR, ARX or AK47

The CMMG Mutant is on my gun bucket list. Haven't seen one in the flesh yet. Took a while to find an ARX at the right price too.

Once you get away from an AR, you lose the cheap and readily available replacement parts, so at today's prices, I'd make darn sure I'd had all my AR wants covered before I got into the alternatives.

maybe he doesnt want an AR?

maybe he doesn't want an AR?
He already said that, I don't know how much commonality the Mutant has with AR parts much beyond the stocks and grips, but I want one!

I'm all for variety, but if you don't take advantage of the current AR price situation to fulfill all your potential AR wants and needs now, I don't want to hear any whining about it if Hillary wins.

I know I have, which is why I got the ARX as soon as I found one at a good price.

I may only be able to get two of these three, but my current gun bucket list is Mutant, ACR, and Ruger Precision Rifle in .308. I'm fortunate enough to already have SCAR 17S, Tavor, AUG and all the AK variants I care about.

The main problem with 5.56 AKs is magazines. The Chinese and WSAR varients need different magazines which are hard to find and pricey when you do, and the converted Siagas need Galil mags which can be problematic, although the Tapco Galil mags have worked well for me so far. The Yugo PAP variations that take AR mags might be the best bet, but so far I've only seen them in "pistols".

I have one 5.56 Saiga with a MSA 5.56 mag well adaptor, but if I'd known how much I'd had to mill off the front truninon I'd probably not have ordered. But it has worked very well so far.

I like my SIG 556R but lots of folks have had problems with them, mine has been fine, although a bit more ammo sensitive than I'd prefer.

personally i couldnt care less about an AR.. cant stand them, and more than ARs will be in jeopardy should any assault weapon bans be passed, including the ACR, ARX, AK, and the AUG and sig 556 i mentioned.. you have have a CNC mill you can machine out your own AR-15 parts and build one from the ground up should they be banned, you wont be able to do the same for the other rifles mentioned

Not much about the ARX huh? Do people not like them? It's definitely one of the newer ones (at least on the U.S. market, and definitely different. It's accuracy isn't as good as many AR's that you can get, especially for 2k (but the ARX is well under that if you shop a bit).

The only thing that one may not like is that you can't really 'mod' it like an AR, and of course, no aftermarket trigger.

anyone whos read enough of my comments knows i cant stand cheap, mass produced plastic guns so naturally i will not be a fan of the ARX-180 either.. i think quickly changing ejection port for 99% of all uses is an absolutely useless feature that overcomplicates the engineering of the weapon itself.. its very bulky and does nothing for me

my opinion on the ACR is that with all the other options out there.. and when you consider how much more popular the SCAR is the ACR just becomes. meh.. it seems to be a weapon more and more people are simply forgetting about and with remington making them now (unless they sold the rights to yet another group).. im even that more cautious about them considering anything remington or freedom group has gotten their hands on in the last few years has turned to crap

the AK rifles are a good choice to get because theyre reliable, accurate, durable, tons of aftermarket and mechanically very simple, but not just for that reason but the prices on them are rising and probably wont be going back down to as low as they used to be.. the ones for $500-$600 wont last forever anymore and i doubt any US manufacture will be able to make them as well and for as inexpensive as they are now compared to european manufacturers like the bulgarians.. so whether theyre banned or not, the time to get good ones could be running out

if i were to buy a brand new rifle, right now though and my budget was about $1500-$1600, it would be a toss up between the sig 556 and the steyr aug a3 m1.. i had an aug clone before, and its an awesome weapon, only bullpup i like and the sig has so much similarities with the AK in a shorter more "modern" package

I guess I haven't kept up with AK's in recent years. If Century is making quality rifles, that is a change from their past behavior. Good for them.

If you want inexpensive, the zastava Npap rifle I have seems to be well built though I don't like the shape of the butt stock.

yeah, i wouldnt call century top of the line AKs, arsenals, paps, are better.. do you think an american company can really manufacturer components at a lower cost than an eastern european country can sell surplus parts without serious corners cut?

I'd get an SLR-107 with a Kobra or KVAR SM--13 mount and a Leupold VX-R scope.

And 1,000 rounds of Wolf 123 HP
