PLEASE, CZ, don't screw this up! (I don't know anything about CZ, but they'd be hard-pressed to improve things.)

I doubt they will. AFAIK CZ-USA doesn't add any kind of lock to the pistols they import, so there's little chance they'd force DW into doing this.

I don't know what to tell you Nico. All the former Springfield owners I know have gotten rid of em cause they keep breaking. Maybe they are just sending the bad ones to Illinois. No, that can't be right. Springfield Armory is Illinois...so confusing.....

::shrug:: I personally know a guy (who also posts on this board) who has over 3000 rounds through his Mil-Spec with nothing more than a few FTFs, and the vast majority of Springfield owners on this site, m1911.org, and 1911forum seem perfectly happy with their guns. All reports I've seen also say their customer support and service are pretty good.

Springfield vs. Kimber is a Ford vs. Chevy decision. Both make good mid-level and high-end 1911s (and Springfield makes good entry-level guns). The vast majority of owners of both brands I've heard from have been perfectly happy with their guns.

At one of the indoor ranges I shoot at, I heard the main behind-the-counter guy telling another shooter that he's heard about two Springfield lock-guns managing to lock themselves while shooting, and had just seen one firsthand. I don't know whether he was talking about a 1911 specifically, but he was saying that the Springer owner said they never used the lock, and the lock slipped just enough while shooting to render the gun inert.

No ILS for me, thanks.

My lawyer lock was changed out by the house gun smith before I even took possession!!!!
So was mine!!! Of course, I like flat MSHs, and my milspec came with an arched one... ILS wasnt an issue to me (even though I did find pleasure in removing it).

I know a guy who knows a guy who heard a guy say he owns a Springfield Milspec that's worked flawlessly since day one through a couple thousand rounds now.

Hey wait a minute! That sounds like me!

Seiously, you can get a bad example of any production firearm. I had an S&W revolver NIB so badly out of time it wouldn't fire on all cylinders.

That's what warranties are for.
