Air Rifle Recommendation

Beeman is a company with a good rep. Why would they risk that to be able to sell a worthless gun? What could they gain? I have shot around 500 pellets so far with no problem. The accuracy did start to go around 250 pellets. I checked screws and barrel tightness. Then it occured to me to clean the bore, That sucker was black. It think it was mostly the lube oil in the chamber. Anyway a few patches and I am back to 3/4" open sighted groups at 22 yards. I haven't tried the scope yet. Whats the point? If I can shoot this well without it why add the bulk?

Beeman built up their reputation back when they were owned by Robert Beeman. RB was a bit of an airgun snob and only sold high end stuff. Beeman never made their own guns, but sometimes they had the guns made for them built to a higher standard than the originals. For example specifying better wood or triggers.

About 10 years ago or so Beeman retired and sold the company to the corporation that owns Marksman. They kept most of the original Beeman products, but also added several cheaper Spanish and Chinese guns.

Beeman was either sold or went bankrupt recently, (forget which one), and in the future they will be exclusively selling the cheap guns while Pyramyd Air is taking over their high end line of rifles.

Well I just got my TF97 in the mail today. The manual is complete engrish (refers to right hand as "sword hand" :D) but the rifle seems pretty sturdy and looks nice for $80 worth of Chinese craftsmanship. Unfortunately someone who was thinking of the children™ put a huge "not a toy" warning sticker on the stock that comes off in 2500 pieces.

I didn't get to shoot it for long on account of the weather but I had difficulty shooting consistent groups at ~10m. Hopefully it just needs breaking in.
