Ak-47

I am looking to buy a new semi-auto rifle. It is going to be between a Ar-15 Armalite or and Ak-47. I already have an Ar so I would really like to own the Ak. I was going to ask if there is any brand I need to keep an eye out for and anything that I need to look if somthing is wrong, like what I should keep away from. I really dont know that much about Ak's so if you could inform me I would be greatly apreaciated!
