"How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual; as a trustworthy & productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised and taken care of."
Suzanna Hupp

That one just became my new sig line.

My favorite:

When the news reported asked the Army sniper what he felt after shooting someone, his answer was: "Recoil".

Some Movie Favs:
Rooster Cogburn: Why, by God, girl, that's a Colt's Dragoon! You're no bigger than a corn nubbin, what're you doing with all this pistol?

Mattie Ross: It belonged to my father, he carried it bravely in the war, and I intend to kill Tom Chaney with it if the law fails to do so.

Rooster Cogburn: Well, this'll sure get the job done if you can find a fence post to rest it on while you take aim.

Goudy: Now is it not true that you sprang up on old man Wharton and his two sons with a deadly, six shot revolver in your hand?

Rooster Cogburn: I always try to be ready.

Goudy: Was this revolver loaded and cocked?

Rooster Cogburn: Well, a gun that's unloaded and cocked ain't good for nothin'.

This is not really a gun quote but it's gun related.

Back in the early eighties I lived on the second floor of an apartment building and I had a 65 Mustang fastback. The car had been vandalized and decided I was going to catch whoever it was that was messin with my ride.

I stayed awake at night and kept checkin out the window from time to time to see if anyone was around. I had backed it up against the wall directly below my window.

One early morning as I lay awake I heard footsteps in the gravel parking lot. I grabbed my trusty shotgun and slipped open the window.

I leaned out the window with my shotgun just in time to see a young guy in his late teens to early twenty's walk past all the other vehicles and go straight up to mine and look in the driver's side window.

I got his attention by asking him:

You looking for something?

His eyes got real wide real quick and he started moving rapidly away from my car. As he was leaving in a hurry I shouted:

I KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!

(He looked like a guy that lived 3 or 4 houses down from the parking lot.)

I came back in the window and had a good laugh as I thought about the look on his face.:D

For some strange reason, no one messed with my car again.

Clint Smith, director of Thunder Ranch, is part drill instructor, part stand-up comic. Here are a few of his observations on tactics, firearms, self defense and life as we know it in the civilized world.
Surprised it took 'til the 97th posting to get to Clint Smith. The one that I remember most, and don't think it was on the list, was:

"I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, 'cause it's going to be empty."

I was in PA and a local reporter asked the million dollar question to a 86 yo man, who was getting his tag recorded by rangers for black bear season.
The reporter, "Did you catch this bear?"
The man," son i SHOT that bear i'm too old to chase them down anymore!"

person who shall remain nameless - "I don't believe in guns"

me, revealing my sidearm - "this is just a figment of your imagination then?"

Good ones so far, here are some i picked up:

"There is no such thing as overkill"

"Never bring a knife to a gun fight"

In some sort of instruction manual or something: "Keep the business end pointed away from you, then conduct business"

"Thread lightly and carry a big stick" (stick being slang for a gun off course)

Paraphrased from memory, I acquired this as a Cooperism though a search suggests Cooper was passing along wisdom he acquired elsewhere:

If the enemy is in range so are you. Do not draw fire, it irritates those around you.

smile, be polite and have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

Best Quotes

Not sure if someone already posted this.....but a classic from HARLEY DAVIDSON and the MARLBORO MAN (you HAVE to see this movie esp. if you like Desert Eagles)

"Squeeze the trigger.....don't yank it. It's not your pecker!!"

"The Second Amendment isn't about protecting ourselves against criminals. It's about all of us protecting ourselves from all of you." ---Dr. Suzanne Gratia Hupp to Congressman Charles Schumer (D-NY), 1994

I got this from the sig line of an OP in here, just for the record.

My sig line.
Sometime think about changing it to a different line I come across, but nothing, so far, compares to it.

The Second Amendment of our Bill of Rights is my concealed weapons permit, period!

The way I heard it was:

"You damned right I have a permit. It's called the Constitution."

I believe it was Elmer Keith who, while speaking of his beloved .45 Colt, said,
"The idea is to let out a lot of blood and let in a lot of cold air."

Gun Quotes

Having spent some time as an armed guard:

My friend was standing guard on a business when a guy walked past, looked at the firearm my friend was packing and asked
"You any good with that hogleg?" My friend responded:
"Good enough to put two in your ten-ring."

While out on patrol (yes - some armed security guards go on patrol), we got a cup of coffee a a "stop-N-rob". I was talking to my partner as we were leaving when this young man standing nearby, approached me and stated:
"that looks like a toy gun." I said:
"You don't really want to find out, now do you?"

Being armed with a 4" barrel gun in an appropriate size holster offers some misconceptions. I had been issued a 4" barreled .38 S&W revolver for secuirty work. I cound not find an approrpriate glossy holster in my "hand" in the pile. What I came up with was a leather holster that I would have to polish. This thing was more of a sword scabbard.
While wearing my highly shined holster for about an 8" barreled gun with the standard size 4" gun I was packing, more than one person commented

"Damn! That is one big gun!"

Don't believe everything you read and only half of what you see.

me talking with an anti

him: whats to stop me from grabbing your gun and taking it away from you?

me:if your close enough to grab my gun I'm close enough to ram my forehead down your throat

· "If you must own a 9mm, keep it in a box so you don’t accidentally load it. If you do load it, don’t shoot it. If you do shoot it don’t hit someone. Because if you do hit someone and if he ever realizes he’s shot, he’s going to be angry!" - Jeff Cooper
· 9mm's are all well and good until someone loses an eye.
· As long as one doesn't get into a gunfight, a 9mm is just fine. - Mark Moritz
· Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a "4."
· "Because you know that the 9mm is a .45 set on stun."
·"Why did I shoot him 7 times? Because 6 times wouldn’t have been enough and 8 would have been too many." - Massad Ayoob
