So I felt pretty stupid yesterday, Saturday morning I went fishing and of course had my pistol in an IWB holster, when I took the holster off I noticed that the bottom portion of my holster had gotten wet, likely because we go down poured on. So When I put the gun away I took it out of the holster and left the holster on the window sill to dry. Placing the gun back in the safe loaded.

So yesterday I put my holster on this time and OWB but that doesn't matter, and pulled the gun out of the safe, as I pulled the gun out I felt my finger brush the trigger, rather than index it on the side my finger found the trigger. Luckily I didn't pull the trigger with any real weight but I did essentially move it slightly. I felt dumb and I normally pride myself on good gun handling and this time I failed. The only positive thing I could say is that the muzzle was firmly pointed into a structural corner of the wall so if god forbid I had discharged the gun the round would have stopped.

Just figure I would share to remind everybody to be careful and aware when you handle your guns.

glad to hear you did not ND. sometimes its situations like these that make us even more aware.

Did you not have the safety on?
One of the rules says keep it pointed in a safe direction. Sounds like you had that covered.

I felt my finger brush the finger

My fingers are always touching each other when I grip mine.

:neener:

I understand...unfortunately these threads usually get several "OMG, you shouldn't even own a firearm!" responses. Mistakes can happen, if you make one...learn from it. I'm the first to admit that I am 100% capable of mistakes. I've never had an ND, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.

glad to hear nothing came of it...good thing it wasnt a glock! lol....my HK is DA/SA and the DA pull is so damn heavy i could lift the gun and bounce it around by the trigger if i wanted to  (not that i would, obviously)

I have all heavy triggers on my guns, every once in a while I will feel my finger come in contact with the trigger when I don't want it to, and I don't care how heavy they are, to me it's not good practice to touch the trigger till I'm ready to fire.

Thank you for posting, hopefully this gives us all another safety reminder. I wish there were more "almost ND" posts, I think the number of "ND" posts would drop. I look at these posts as a way for us to remind eachother about safe handling, and appriciate every one of them that I read, because I believe that constant reminders are keeping my and mine safe.

Well put, It's only when you've convinced yourself that your beyond having a ND that it will happen. I PLAN on never having one, but I'm also not stupid enough to think it couldn't happen.

First, thanks for the reminder . . . Remember, "Almost" only counts in Horse shoes, Hand Grenades, and Atomic Bombs.:what:
Best,
Rob
