I know of several cases where long arms have been used in self defense in the state of New York without any kind of legal reprecussion, and, some of those involve shots being fired and officers responding. As far as reporting what happened goes, its over and done with. The young man was apolagetic and as I stated quite inebriated. His parents were not angry or upset in any way with me or my faimly. Rather they were embarassed and angry with their son for his behavior. He is a friend of my sisters and, I think he learned a valuble lesson. To clarify btw, just so some of you guy's remain calm, this incident did not take place in NY. Though I was born there and go to school there. My mother remarried several years ago and lives out of state with my younger sister and step father, who has been as much a real father to me as a my biological father. This is where the mentioned incident took place, at my mothers home and not in nys. Though I still do not bielive there is any legal rule against useing a rifle or shotgun for defense in New York State. My grandfather was NYPD for over 25 years, and, I never heard such a thing from him.
