Amazing how quick the "Black Guns" have gone up in price

There are two different kinds of gun buying panics: election panics, which mainly affect people already interested in guns, and natural disaster / civil unrest panics, which affect everybody else. The silver lining this time is that "black gun" ownership is increasing among people that didn't own them before. In turn, this is going to make efforts to ban them more difficult.

While I get your point, and hope you're right, the cynic in my soul says they won't stop trying.

And this is all gun buying panics rolled into one. I was able to take some advantage of the salad days...wish I had gotten just one more plain jane upper...

I bought a Del Ton Echo 316M last weekend, brand new, for $499. The dealer I go to does not believe in price gouging. I was at another store that was selling a S&W M&P Sport OR which has a MSRP of $725,their price was $900!

We had a really long window, that everyone pointed out over and over, with great prices on all things AR as well as .223/5.56 ammo, so it is hard to get excited about folks fussing now.
I totally agree.
Where I am, 22 is still readily available. 9mm and 223 disappeared. But has reappeared in a lot of stores.
I learned my lesson during Sandy Hook and won't be caught like that again.
I however won't be part of the problem. So I'm not going to buy another gun for a while.

4a1dc418e4ee4854dafbe321480f8197.jpg The title "...Black Guns....": includes the VZ-58, imported from the Czech Republic.. This young lady is in Slovenia ("Polenar Tactical" Youtube {still ?} channel), but the rifles are also legal in Czech R., Germany and several other Euro countries.

----This is my Only "black rifle" with a solid buttstock (besides a black AMD-65)----. It has stayed up in price due to constant demand over the years. >>> and only looks like the rifle most of you are thinking about.<<< but is very different.

Panic buying seems to indicate how totally uninformed or complacent most people are, and that they have no imagination for the unexpected.

There is no shortage of these guns here where I live, and prices haven't skyrocketed. PSA still seems to have the standard fare. The biggest challenge seems to be ammunition, at the moment.

A few months back I priced building a 16" budget AR, about $325, this morning same build $490, my last two 6.5 Grendels ran between $300 & $350, now the uppers are $300. I hope the prices return to pre lock down prices soon, when I went to a LGS and noticed $550 to $600 basr ARs I thought who payed that but he said he couldn't keep them in stock. Ammo prices have made it worthwhile to reload 55gr again, with the current prices I wish I'd ordered more 62gr for $280 for 1200rnds.

Never felt the need for one. Just don't see them as a defensive weapon. I'm good on buck shot and 9mm. Plenty of 3006 270 243. After this tho i guess I may as well snag one.

why would people think firearms and ammunition are not subject to the laws of supply and demand like everything else.
It’s not that people think they are not subject too the laws of supply and demand, but then that is not the point of the topic.
The OP was just pointing out that it was amazing how quick the prices have gone up.
I stopped in at the LGS , that my friend owns, earlier today. He had been selling Anderson striped lowers for $54. He’s been unable to get them for a couple of weeks now, but was able to get a bunch of Bear Creek lowers. The Bear Creek lowers are made by Anderson, but he is selling them for $79. The BC lowers are costing him more the he was selling the Andersons for.
He also told me that one company that he buys from just went up on their LPKs. Last week they were $32 his cost. Today they went up to $63 his cost. And if he orders from the company, they have a $2000 minimum order.

I got caught in one shortage, never again. Positive things came of it, I learned reloading and have put in a good stock of calibers I have, except .458 SOCOM.....dies, brass and bullets for it will be coming, but 9mm, .308, 300 Blackout and .45 are WELL supplied!

Also learned to build AR15 rifles over that shortage, so lots of lemonade came from that batch of lemons...hopefully this shortage will prompt more to vote in line with 2nd Amendment?

It may not be good, but it is starting to be the norm. There have been numerous panic buying times in the last 20 years. The ones that come to mind (and I am sure this isn't all of them)...

Obama 2

Covid-19...rolling into
Trump 2

And I will take the lessons I’ve learned from this and make sure I’m not in a bad way ever again
