OK Guys give me your opinion. Keep in mind, I am not Rambo, Chuck Norris, or Steven Seagal. However, I keep a Glock 22 .40 at my bedside. I only intend to fire this weapon in a worst case scenerio. What ammo would you use?
In this months Guns and Ammo I noticed an ad from Thompson/Center for the Shock Wave Sabots. Have you heard of these?

Thanks.

I use Federal Hydra shock in all my firearms. Glock 19, S&W 686, Kimber .45 and S&W 642.

Glock 19 is my bedside gun.

Any premium self defense hangun ammunition will work well whether it's Speer Gold Dots, Winchester Supreme T or Silvertips, Remington Golden Sabre, Federal Hydra Shok's, Horday XTP & Corbon's offerings. Pick a few and practice with them, see what your gun likes.

Winchester Ranger 155gr JHP is nice in my Glock23. Good ammo and about 15 to 18 dollars a box of 50 you can't beat it. For more specialty rounds try Federal Hydra shocks or Remington Golden Sabers.

The Federal Air Marshal Service equips their Marshals who fly with
Speer Gold Dot Jacked Hollow Point.

(Although they shoot Sig P229's in .40 and .357SIG not Grocks)

Good for them - Good for me.

Looking at my guns and ammo guide that has the cartridge's energy listed in the back, i'd say from a pure amount of energy generate standpoint that you should go with Corbon 135 grain JHP's. I know the company buffalo bore also makes some pretty powerfull 40 caliber ammunition, but its +p which you don't want to shoot in anything without a fully supported chamber, which would rule out using it in a glock. Also this article might help you out a little bit http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/ayoob93.html

+1 to Marshall. I have Remington Golden Sabers in my nightstand weapon and Hornady TAP FPD in my carry pistol.

have put 250-300 rds of 165 gr Federal Hydrashoks through my XDs over 2 years without a hiccup. i'm sure i could get 2-3 in center of mass without one, too.

Winchester Ranger 155 grain

I've got Winchester Ranger 155 grain cartridges in my XD-40 as well, excellent round, excellent price. I fired one of these into 4 (1) gallon milk jugs, the fourth jug stopped the bullet, the expansion was impressive.

Expensive, but I like Hornady TAP because I really like the 180 gr XTP bullets. They feed extremely well in every gun I've used them in and they have plenty of penetration. I've shot the XTP (mostly handloads) in my Glock 24P, 3 differant CZs, and a couple 10mms. I've never been disapointed.

Pick any name-brand hollow point ammo, try 100 or 200 rounds through your gun. If it feeds and goes bang every single time, use it.

Just remember, hollow points can fail to expand when shot through clothing. Place your shots with care.

I like Speer Gold Dots.

I second that.

My 2 Glock 22's, Glock 23, and 27 all get the same ammo when it comes to HP - Speer Gold Dot 165 Grain .40SW.

For range ammo - anything is fine. I just like to keep it with 165 grain to get used to how it feels.

I did my research and for a number of reasons, in the Glock .40's the 165 grain I like best.

The truth really is though that it's all going to be the same in terms of reliability and such, you just need to pick what you're comfortable with.

We use Federal HST in our duty guns. Seems to have worked fine so far. I'd just save your money and buy the cheapest thing I could get, since you'll probably miss with no practice. All HP ammo has poor performance when it misses the target.

Seriously. You need to practice with this weapon if you hope to be proficient with it. Worry about hitting your target first, then worry about what ammo to use in order to make those hits count.

There are plenty of PD ammo out there, but I always make sure I run a few rds with each mag-load when out on the range for digestible reliability.
I don't own a Glock(a Daewoo), but for carry & when at the bedside I use:
Winchester 155gr.Silvertip HP's....:)
P.S. I don't have real close neighbors to worry about going through somebody's dry-wall, etc..
