Why do you call the first man and woman stupid for being in the bear's territory and yet see no problem with a man and woman living in the bear's territory year-round?
For the record, Grizzlies are NOT an endangered species. Not even close.Animals are different from humans. I personally believe that trying to scare off the animal (a threatened one at that)
The dog was a mere distraction to the bear, one swipe of the paw and the dog is dead meat.Don't forget that he could fire those warning shots as there was a dog out there to keep the bear off of him. The dog gave him options, including trying to warn the bear off.
Hey, my dachshund wudda whupped that bear in a heartbeat (at least in HIS own mind)!Boxers rule!
What's the caliber of that handgun? Some of you might find this picture interesting, if only to get a perspective on the relative size of Alaskan bears.
The five small claws near the top are from a black bear.
The center "middle sized" claw is from an interior Alaskan grizzly.
The large claw on the bottom is from a Kodiak grizzly/brown bear.
were they ever classified as endangered up there?
I never said they were stupid for being in the bears territory. I said their actions were stupid, or at least sound so.
Everybody should hike Denali at least once in their lives, but they should be better prepared than these people.
but I have become very leery of posting pics of guns with the SN front and center
