The House of Representatives has passed the Universal Background check bill. It's on to the Senate. During the last congress, this bill was passed out of the House, too, but did not get passed in the Senate as it was not taken up by the (then) Republican controlled Senate.

If it gets through the Senate this time, Biden will sign it into law. Then it will be illegal for you to sell or give a firearm to a family member or friend without an FBI background check.

It didn't take them very long to get started, did it? :barf:

2A rights is a narrow focus. ;)
funny thing is im not an elephant and will admit to being more of a moderate lefty libertarian with a lil L. (but really hold a mix of beliefs that dont align with any one party lol) I would disagree however that 2a is not broad per say but its also not narrow. Copper, lead, and other raw materials and their regulations and taxations affect us gun owners. same with steel and its regulation. When cheaper inferior steel killed our american steel companies competitiveness it harmed us gun owners too. Yes they are indirect they still cause effect.

Notice how many tens , or Hundreds of Thousands of guns were involved in Private Sales in the last few years——

—don’t be too worried about guns which have changed owners - privately - multiple times.
Future registration would be impossible for most of these.

Remember Senators Joe Manchin and Sinema?

These Democratic Senators would be under very strong pressure to vote Against both UBC...And....Future “Registration.”

Their states are Very Pro-Gun.: WV and AZ.

Uh huh, and then there's Romney (who has been pro AWB in the past) and that guy TN who isn't running again and a few other Republicans who can't be trusted.

All we hear about is those so called “Blue Dog Democrats”. They play both ends against the middle but always support the Democrat Party. It’s false hope putting any faith in them.

this makes as much sense as them passing no taxes on forgiven student loans, when no actual loan forgiveness exists. you can't track transactions without registration, so - IMHO means nothing aside from being annoying and making no sense.

Realistically, how can this be enforced? I can't think of a single thing that would ensure even marginal compliance. I'm positive, though, that it'll produce one helluva "black market".

BTW, didn't we try to control the possession of guns in Afghanistan and Iraq? If so, didn't seem to take...

Personally, I truly wonder how many people would comply with this proposed legislation. There are many, many people that will not know there of such a law. Mostly those people would be non-enthusiasts, like hunters, for instance. My younger brother would be likely to give a shotgun or rifle to his son or stepson as a gift. They are all hunters and other than during hunting season, give firearms little thought. I know oodles and oodles of people like this. Guns to them are tools. Every day tools. Heck, when I gave my brother a shotgun as a thankyou gift a few years ago. I sent it to him (we live in different states, far away from each other) and he was surprised he had to fill out a 4473 for a gun he did not buy!

2A rights is a narrow focus. ;)

2A rights are by definition Civil Rights. The House is anti-Civil Rights.

Restrictions on the 2A are an attack on the rights of "the people". It may be framed in a narrow context, but The Constitution says "the right of the people... shall not be infringed", for the express purpose of limiting the federal government's authority. When the government permits itself to restrict the right of the people, everything in The Bill of Rights is at risk.
