Another graphic (Guns Save Lives)

you think I could get that "the choice is hers" in a larger resolution? I'd like to print some out and post them around school if thats okay.. :D

Oleg-

I think at least part of the problem is her eyes. Even in the second image, they just look alive. Any way you could dull them a bit to give them a more glassy, "dead" look?

Stick,

In the second one it isn't necessary for her to look "dead", just victimized. The text no longer implies death. It's a little more ambiguous and up to the fears of the viewer of how "bad" the result is.

Oleg,

The reality of rape and murder is ugly. There is no way to soft-pedal it. The suggestion of a body under a sheet is about as soft as that can get, as far as I can see it.

And your model on the right in the first poster is (or will be) covering her weak-side arm/hand with her muzzle on the drawstroke. Weak side hand should be indexed above and inside the gun on the draw...

Picky. picky, picky- sorry. But you do such good work, the details matter ever so much more.

Thanks, and keep it up!

Hello everyone.â„¢

s_survivor.jpg

The forementioned photos bear some resemblence to this photo.

Mr. Volk, I have to say I think this is your best to date. The message is powerful, simple, and easily understood. The graphics hit hard enough to get your attention and hold onto it, but not to the point of stomach churning. Well done.

"Deadness" comments aside, I think it'd be more impressive if the woman were pointing the gun at the camera...give a good view of the muzzle, but don't focus on it. You know, use one of those lenses that focuses everything equally. Do they make those for SLRs, or is it just for movie cameras? I don't have any idea. My Maxxum 5 has done everything I need it to and has a ton of functions that I have no idea how to use. It's also a tax writeoff :D

You could add a "case number" on the bottom of the polaroid, whith the prefix "homicide". That would make here more dead without the gore.

In fact, I think she looks quite attractive in the first photo.

OK, without trying to pick a fight about that statement, because I'm really just showing some sarcasm: YOU'RE SICK! :uhoh: :barf:

Oleg, I thought they were all good. Aside of the "deader" and "couldn't see enough of the gun on the right-hand pic" comments, I think you do EXCELLENT photography and have always impressed me with simple text and photos combined together to make a POWERFUL statement.

Then you did that second poster, and BAM! WHAM! DAMN! Yeah, that made the point VERY clear.

The third one: Yeah, heck, that's just plain cute; and what the other guy said - she looks like a little kid compared to Amish Bill.

Keep up the good work, Oleg. In fact, I'm gonna jump over to A-Human-Right right now just to see what new updates and posters you have since the last time I visited (which has been a while).

Which Set of Photo's..?

Oleg..

You did good.. but I like the first set better than the second. Maybe if you had shot the second from a angle so it showed the handgun better it might catch ones eye.. but for some reason (to me), it seemed like it would take a little bit of time figuring out what she had in her hand.

Très bien

The message is loud and clear.

If you want, I can translate the message into German and French translations so THRs across the pond can sneak these things on bill boards.

Oleg, look back on your work of a few years ago.
You got positive messages out in a friendly and sometimes even humorous manner. They were "persuasive".

Lately, what I've been seeing is ANGER.
Aggressive, strident, brutal.
These are "Argumentative."

We're trying to WIN converts, not bludgeon the opposition.
Please go back.

Fud

Definitely some anger at the other side.

I will use other approaches also, so don't worry about me ending up in a single track.

Wow, image one was certainly powerful, and image 2 sent chills down my spine. Both certainly bludgeon the point across, with no doubts about the message.

I can certainly understand feeling anger at the opposition, since what they want leads to bad things to happen to good people, but Ill third the request for more of the old style photos with humor and wit to make one think about thier stance on a issue.

Image two still has me freaked out imagining that happening to a friend or loved one . Great Work though, excellent photography as always :)

Sometimes one needs shock value.

The folks teaching "self defense" at college campuses, who talk about whistles and car keys... Sheesh.

Oleg, howzabouta variation next time you do shooting... A "dead hand" clutching some car keys? or the magic whistle?

This is the kinda stuff to guerilla pamphlet with.
