It's the P99 for me; unique DA/long SA/SA trigger, unique decocker, and unusual but very versatile mag release.

My son's first gun was a G17. Although he still has the G17, it has been very neglected since he got a M&P40.

For me its been a real pleasent surprise is my M&P40 , it has recently replaced my Steyr M357 as my main carry . I've also have carried a SW99 in 40 (My first plastic pistol) and a XD-40 (could never find a comfortable holster , neither a IWB or OWB worked )

STI 2011.

Everything else pales in comparison. Lighter than a standard 1911 government model, twice the capacity and half the muzzle flip.

Like I said in the other thread, the .40 Glocks can be a bit flippy. Not so with the 9mm's. You can give my G17 and G19 a spin, they're both ideally suited for what I bought them for. Glock ergos and grip angles aren't for everyone, 'tis true. If they do suit you, however, you, too, can experience the bliss that is Glock Nirvana, baby. Heinie sights (OEMs are a joke, even the adjustables), skateboard tape, and you're good to go.

G17/19--Git 'er done, Rich!! :D

HK is overpriced and has a really crappy mag release. As does the P99.

Usually this is coming from someone who doesn't own one, never bought one, or even shot one. Usually don't know what they the hell they're talking about either. Same damn thing like the GLOCK basher. Typical internet armchair commando.

I'd have to agree that the HK is overpriced for what it is. Disagree on the mag release, though. I owned one (I even bought and shot it, too! ;) ), and while it was a nice piece, I don't see why it has to cost $200 more than the Glock (actually, it's more like $300 more, but I'm allowing an extra $100 for aftermarket sights). Obviously, you're paying for the prancing pon...er, big red letters.

Don't know too much about the M&P, but it sure does look intriguing. And the XD .45 Tactical is next on the wish list (after the Marlin 39a :p ).

That STI made me drool on my keyboard, BTW.

Mike, I must say you represented your Glock very well last Saturday. Congratulations. There may be a time for a G19 in the future. I've been looking at one and do appreciate the simplicity of the platform.

The M&P 9mm was a nice shooter, though many didn't like it. I felt the gun had very little recoil for how light the gun was. It felt great in the hand with all controls where they needed to be. Only thing was the trigger was stiff and gritty, and it was difficult to tell when the trigger would reset.

I think you and Vu are competing against each other too much. He stated in my other thread he was looking for a XD Tactical also. :D

John! Good to see ya! Get your CZ yet? (Wow, the Beretta sure looked polymer, but, alas, it is indeed alloy.)

Rich, John will attest to me wanting an XD for some time now. We even shot one when Ken and I went shooting with John a couple weeks back.

So Vu's a biter. You tell him I said so. :neener:

So, to summarize and get back on topic, for me it's:

1. Glock
2. XD
3. The Rest.

I like my new K100 more than a little, it's among the best feeling and most pointable service pistols out there, it recoils more on the level of a .32 than a 9mm mostly thanks to the rotating barrel system, its trigger in single action mode is as short and crisp as a 1911's, ALL the metal parts are Tenifered, it's Ruger class beefy yet manages to avoid looking clubby or bulky, and last but not least its particularily accurate. The only things I don't like are the weird method of dis/reassembly {you start by popping the trigger guard out of a slot in the frame!} and the rather Eastern European finishing standards.

Wow, this whole time I thought it the 90-two was a polymer pistol. Thanks for the correction John.
For some reason, it's a very common misconception. I might have thought it was polymer at one time too...
John! Good to see ya! Get your CZ yet?
No CZ75 yet, but I've been fiddling with one of my current CZ pistols a bit lately. Might be something interesting to report later. ;)
I heard you're one heck of a shot.
You know, it's every shooter's dream to nail a good group with witnesses. The stars just happened to align--I can die happy now! :D

Steyr M40A1. Followed by the P99

I may make my next one a M&P in 9mm followed by the FN in 45 when it comes out.

My favorite is my Springfield XD 45 Tactical. Great shooting pistol. Very accurate and reliable through 1500 rounds of WWB and Federal Hydrashoks. A close second would be the Steyr M40A1. It gets overlooked alot, because, honestly, its an ugly, ugly gun. They flat out shoot though. Never had any problems with them. And I know I'm going to offend someone though, but I will never own another one of those paper weights that Ruger markets as the P94. Very reliable, but God only knew where the bullets were headed when they left the barrel.:banghead:

Other. Steyr M40-A1.

Is my first handgun and only semi-auto I have truely enjoyed. To me it has a very menacing and distinct look that appeals to me. Accurate and reliable in my experience.

Had an XD .45 tactical- good gun. Very solid and no jams, but the ergonomics for me didn't mix to well.

Rich, John will attest to me wanting an XD for some time now.

And Ken can attest to you wanting every wondernine or .45 Auto between 400 to 800 dollars! :neener:

I didn't vote in your poll since I don't own any plastic pistols. However, for my next pistol, I have my sights set on a G17. Its main purpose is gonna be as a range toy and IPSC tool. Are you looking for a plastic gun for carry? How about that little Glock that holds 10 rounds of .45 ACP? G30?

like you for many years i was one of the 1911 people, tried glocks and never could shoot them. then came the third gen. the finger grooves fit me just right and got tired of lugging a 1911 all the time. so i bought the 23 and then found the 30,love at first shot, then took up ipsc so had to have a 35 and recently bought a 27 for summer carry.ah so many glocks so little money.:D

I'll second that.

I was gratified to learn that the magwell is easily removed for those of us that carrry the things. Another pleasant surprise was the grip width not being greater than a standard single-stack.

Glock suits me the best in polymer framed pistols. like the hk's and sig pros alot too.

I chose the XD Tupperware because it's the most comfortable of the polymer pistols that I have used. A close second for me would be Taurus, as they seem to have the widest variety of polymer goodies and also feel pretty good in the hand. I didn't choose Glock b/c they just don't feel comfortable to me. HKs feel the same, FNs just suck (IMHO), and Walthers don't do it for me either.

Just my .02 cents, for the record I have fired and fondled all these pistols and the XD 45ACP graces my safe along with the Taurus Millenium Pro 745C both in .45ACP.
